Can one tell me what the output should be on the 500 LC, as i need to know to see if the CDI is getting enough power. Also anyone know where to get the rotor re-magnetized.
Cheers

sent the first file with 100 pages. You should be getting about 14v at the battery at 2000rpm. whays the problem with the bike as it could be the reg/rec.

Have no spark at all, pickup is pulsing ok,changed the CDI sCoils test ok still nothing, thats why i need to know the output of the generator, which could only leave the rotor.
Thanks for your help Bryan.

Never been lucky enough to own a 500 (yet), but do they have battery powered CDIs, or self generating, like the 250s & 350s ??

self generating mate same as lc's and valves I think.

So at kickover speeds there's a bit of AC coming from the mag coils, hard to measure, but obviously enough to get the CDI to work.

yes you should be able to start a bike without a battery the stator gives enough charge to give a spark on tick over

if you look on the sheets i sent you, you should find 2 values for the stator ohms readings. There are 3 wires that make up the high speed windings and low speed windings, there is a common wire which is used for both readings.

Have you tried another CDI? would think it's more usual for a CI to go pop rather than the generator ( I know you're unable to check that though.) Aren't most generators 2-300V plus??

:)Thanks for all your help and input guys, I have been on another site RZ/RD 500 for about 6 years with only one comment with my present problem. On here loads of help and tips, I feel like part of the family already.
The good news is, even though the pick up was pulsing, and changed cdi, I changed for another pick up and now we have sparks yeahhhhhh
Thanks again Bryan.
It was a good excuse to buy a zeeltronic cdi/pv controller and hand held programmer from Norbo. will be much better on track days.

did the problem show up on the ohms reading for the pulsar coil?

No Bryan, all the tests were ok, as I said it was pulsing but not enough.

had the same thing on my LC when I fitted Zeel and lenthened the slots on the statoe, soon as revs hit about 5,500 engine would cut out and not restart. Tested the pulsar coil a few times and it read ok, happened to get no reading next time I checked it.
