Hi, I have got a good set of original discs and stripped the 4 layers of gold, blue, silver etc paint that were on them right back to the bare metal, took hours.
Any ideas on what paint is best for discs. I am guessing that it has to be exhaust or bbq paint for the heat. I have an original brochure and it looks like they were gloss unlike the wheels.
Any tips?
Cheers
Rick

FWIW the best way to clean brake disks is by sandblasting. In fact it is a good idea to blast your disks every year or two. It helps to reduce glazing and heat spots. Sandblasting is reasonably quick and easy to do. If your disks are painted just tape off the bits you don't want to blast with electrical tape.

As stock, was the leading edge of the disc also black or bare metal?
