Can anyone recommend a good vapour blaster in the South East? Are TSR in Sevenoaks any good?

I've used R D Cox in Reading loads of times and always been very happy with the price and quality of the work. Also used CC carb cleaning in Guildford, who also does Soda blasting as well as vapour.

you just reminded me - I still haven't sent you those cylinder heads yet! I will have to take them to work and sneak them on the courier if I can.

Hi
One of the bikes I have is a GSXR50 / RB50 gag bike. Currently stripped down with the frame away being painted.
However wondering about the engine. Outer paint is a bit of a mess. But I would rather not strip it down.
Few people around seem to have vapour blasted complete engines.
Is this safe?
All the best
Keith

It wouldn't be safe if you cant guarantee blasting media not getting into the engine. Some firms do blast complete engines, and use silicon goo to plug holes, but I wouldn't take the risk personally. This is high pressure water with a blasting media mixed into it, and will find it's way into your engine if at all possible. Not an area I would look for a short cut.

I'm hoping to pop over to Cox's tomorrow so he can tidy up my barrels after the rebore. Doug is a top fella and always does a great job. He can also do a good spray job on calipers with brake fluid resistant paint. Not had that done yet but will look into getting it done. Dusty

That tends to be my feeling as well, but parts for the GSXR50 are not that common so would prefer to avoid needing to use a gasket set to strip it down. Maybe I can do the outer cases (gaskets for those are non critical so can easily be made) and manually do the main case with a wire brush on a Dremel. All the best Keith
