anybody got any advice as to what spray gun is best for a good diy finish from undercoat to lacquer , do i need different nozzles? HVLP or LVLP? suction or gravity? compressor is 50ltr 11 bar on the tank but 8 bar on the motor. any links to guns would be good aswell chaps.don't wanna spend a fortune tho what about paint while i'm on, cellulose or acrylic thanks guys

we always used devilbis gravity fed hvlp (last model i used was the GTI)and updated yearly. it all depends on your level of ability. i would pesonally always recomend a good suction feed gun for anyone that doesnt spray on a regular basis or were their skill level is minimal (no offence intended) a half decent sealey one will set you back less than £30 and from there the sky is the limit.

HVLP or LVLP? suction or gravity? compressor is 50ltr 11 bar on the tank but 8 bar on the motor. any links to guns would be good aswell chaps.don't wanna spend a fortune tho what about paint while i'm on, cellulose or acrylic thanks guys your compressor will struggle to run a normal sized spray gun even a modern hvlp gun, it will be possible but you will have to keep stopping to let the reciever fill up . if you looking a painting small bits like bike panels id buy 2 cheap mini hvlp gravity fed guns from ebay (£15-£20 each). ive been a painter for 15 years and ive spent a fortune on decent quality guns but i still regulary use the cheap mini hvlp guns daily as there suppied by the firm and i get on ok with them and if your painting in conditions less than perfect i feel its pointless having better quality guns. kesterel and upol both make cheap guns. obviously a devilbiss sri or sata mini jet is abetter gun but will cost u £150 ish and wont produce a better job if your spraying out side or in a shed anyway imo.

thanks chaps . i don't spray regular and your right about the conditions i'm spraying in aswell so it does make sense not to spend too much then :-[i got a afew tanks and panels i want to do so did'nt want to waste money on cans, i was gunna set up a gezebo with the sides and seal it as best as i can and get some good ppe. so whats the best paint for this new petrol,is their anything petrol proof?

Am doin a set with rattle cans am hopein they come out good I did do a set last year (marsbar) and I was well pleased Naw the laqure has gone slightly cloudy and mentioned this 2 paint shop and asked if he had better stuff this time He said laqure outa can will always go dull after time : ( My point am goin 2 try this set n then look out for gun Oh u probly know but just Incase u dnt make sure u use plastic pre stuf on panals otherwise stay away from jet washing Please let me know wot u decide gun wise and wot u think wen u get it Thanks

strangly enough i was chatting to a mate today who had bought one of the £20 sets that aldi or lidl were selling. and hey says it gives great results on single colour. not so great but passable results on fading out.
