Ok, you've got a standard 4LO and you want to make it handle a bit better without changing its appearance too much or fitting a new front/rear end.
Whats the first thing you'd do with it?
My feeling is suspension set up for your weight and refreshed with new seals/oil/etc.
I'm a bit out of touch with two stroke mods, 20yrs ago all we did was put Microns and K&Ns on, did a plug chop on the dual carrigeway and jetted to suit.

I'd stick a few pennies into the forks to stiffen the spring tension up a bit, then add some 10w40 engine oil in them. You could also buy Hagon springs for it.
After that I'd make sure the headstock and swinger bearings are good.
Maybe add a steering damper to it. It depends on what kind of roads you usually drive on, how prone the bike is to wobble, WHY it would start to wobble etc. My LC was VERY prone to wobbling back when I used to have a raised back and lowered front, so I started using a damper. I kept the damper even though I lowered/raised the bike to stock heights.

Make sure the wheels are balanced spot on. I have found the Lc does not like even the slightest bit of discrepancy, particularly on the front. I balance my wheels in house, and yes, I mean in the house! Also, don't mix and match different makes of tyres.

Think you are right with a suspension refresh. Front end will benefit from a rebuild with upgraded springs and some new oil. As for the rear I'd just buy a replacement shock. Either hagon or if you are feeling flush a Nitron. Original shock not rebuildable and with skinny tyres I don't think you need any more. Just remember half the thrill was feeling like it was going to kill you at any minute Steve

Tyres. Get some decent modern rubber on it. Don't put an oversize rear on it either, that will make it worse

First!? Refill your forks with Mobil 1 ATF.. (Yess, I typed it correctly) Buy and fit an LC250 master cylinder. Braking and handling will be seriously improved. Try it ? and Complain :-) if you find it not so.

Everyone will have their own preferences on tyres. The is a limited choice in the right sizes, Norbo has provided a list of the main options available at the link below. homepage.ntlworld.com/ultimatelccrazy/ I have a very simple view, all of them are wayyyyy better than the stuff we used when we were 17. Modern rubber is far superior so any of them will be a big improvement.

In hind sight the best mod I have done is to cancel paper bank statements and get them online. That way the other half never sees them and freaks at what you are spending Steve

I've had bad experiences with Bridgestones and swore I'd never use them again.
I put Roadriders on, we all used to use Roadrunners back in the day. They feel really good.

Steve => "In hind sight the best mod I have done is to cancel paper bank statements and get them online." LOL!!
Would an LC250 master brake cylinder be an improvement on an LCII?
