I'm hoping to buy a 350LC (4LO) in the next couple of months and I was wondering if I'll be disappointed by buying a "standard one". I last had an LC back in 81/82 and I got it second hand, 6 months old at the time I think. It had a Terry Beckett (Nottingham) road tune, standard pipes, standard airbox, thermostat fitted. At the time I had about 4 mates all with standard LC's and mine was a much better bike, more bottom end, more top end, warmed up more quickly and used less fuel If I remember correctly.
Does anybody know who does a similar tune now if I decide to go that way again? Are there still any Terry Beckett bikes out there?
Thanks
Steve

I rode my mates becket tuned 250lc back in the day and to be honest I thought it was awful for the road, had no power til 6,500 rpm then it was off like a scalded cat til 9,000 then it was all over. as mutts says get some pipes some different carbs and you will be very happy I also have a thermostat in my bike best thing I ever did, warms up very quickly and keeps at a constant temp

I tried some Allspeeds on it once and that pushed the start of the power band from 5k up to 7k, they made it unrideable. I remember trying a few roll on tests in top gear from about 4K and even though I was a good 2 stone heavier than my mate on his standard bike it still pulled away (not that it pulled too quickly at 4K in top!).

It had been tuned for proddy racing and was very fast on track and only ran with one piston ring as I remember

I have a set of Terry Beckett barrels as a spare set and they were raced by a bloke called Charlie Corner from Malton - i used them on the road with a modded airbox and allspeeds and they where very rideable and also quick for the day the pistons were well modded as well - last used in '94 but oiled and wrapped up now!

Charlie Corner, Now that's a name I've not heard for a long time, mid 80's from when lc's ruled the track ;D
