If i understand correctly then i think from memory that the main jet screws into the emulsion tube and they are replacable.

Hi Lee, where are you located ?, I'm in Stockton !. Currently have my bike stripped with the carbs off, so my carbs are available to try - this will tell you if your problem lies with them !.

Hi Davey, where are you located ?, I'm in Stockton !. Currently have my bike stripped with the carbs off, so my carbs are available to try - this will tell you if your problem lies with them !. Hi Paulo, I'm based in Chester Le Street which is not to far away. I will contact them tomorrow to see what if anything has been done and let you know as this offer would be great as I suspect that they are clutching at straws which is disappointing considering they are supposed to be the well known for 2 stroke tuning. When I spoke to them on Friday they were talking about using epoxy resin to seal the corrosion and stated that the fuel was getting past. I will let you know tomorrow Cheers

OK tried them again today and they are now saying it could be the generator. The bike is still showing the same symptoms as before (running but then back fires and smokes etc) so 1 month with the pros and no further forward.
Answers on a post card please before I end up swinging from the rafters.

New one on me, the jet screws in to the emulsifier tube, this is replaceable. Remove the jet, take the washer off and replace the jet, gently tap with a small hammer and the tube will come out, Has the bike been stood for decades?

These guys are supposed to be the north easts best for 2 strokes I will be getting a set of borrowed carbs for them to try tomorrow and if the thing is not resolved by Friday I'm pulling it out. The mad thing is I only took it to these for quickness of set up as it was going in for MOT anyway, however if I new it was gonna be this much of a saga then I could have plodded away with it myself eliminating by process of elimination. So I guess the question is - if its not resolved then who is the guru to take it to for fast and reliable work?

Bike coming home tomorrow running the same as it did when I took in a month ago. Mechanic states that they had a generator on today and it was running better, however this had to be returned to the guy he loaned it from before I had a chance to see it for myself - hmm that old chestnut! I Am going to spend the week trying to fettle it myself before deciding on what to do next so my question is does anyone have a generator that they want to part with that they know it in good working order?
PS Paul I will contact you after the weekend to arrange to drop your carbs off

What bollocks! running better its either fixed or its not! Send the stator assy to West country windings they will test it for a small fee.

Send the stator assy to West country windings they will test it for a small fee. My thoughts also. I have pulled the carbs off to see what has been done (epoxy resin saga) and found that they have applied it around the main jet where it fits in to the body of the carb (photos to follow as its got to be seen to be believed). They have not even mixed it correctly as it is just crumbling off in to soft pieces which will just end up blocking the jets. Right side case finish is knackered as they have got this shit everywhere so that's gonna need refinishing. Also the fuse box connector had been left unplugged which I noticed as the side panel was not on snug, but when I have gone to reconnect it there is a snapped wire (the red one) (what is the red wire for) All in all I have a MOT from these jokers which has ended up costing me £160. Going to be on the phone tomorrow as they dropped the bike off at home for me and all this crap has been discovered afterwards. I have to say this has taken the shine off the bike, so hoping that I can get it sorted soon. Armstrong Engineering in Newcastle are to be avoided at all cost ..............................total bunch of cowboys and rip off merchants
