Help please a while a go I brought a 350lc from a long time friend who owned it for 18years he moved house and lost the v5 I checked it out and was all ok now the problem is I powder coated the frame etc and didn't even look for the frame number I've got reg number and the engine number which was a ypvs lump these numbers tie up but the v62 form wants the vin number any ideas please getting a bit worried as spent loads building it and want to register it thanks Andy

its ion the head stock on the right hand side as you sit on the bike, if you can't read it then I am afraid you will have to sand off the powder coat to get the number and thjen paint over it again

Thanks found the number but looks like might of caught a cold not sure vin ties up with reg number any ideas how to check it out ? Please getting a bit stressed as spent over 3.5k already

Please getting a bit stressed as spent over 3.5k already oh fook, that's not good ! no easy way I am afraid, without the V5 reference number I am not sure you can, mighgt be best to see if you can get a vehicle check on it using the vin you have just found and see what comes back, will cost you a few quid, but should help you know for sure HTH

Already done that and it doesn't tie up with reg number got a sick feeling I've just built a money pit guess I'm going to have to buy a frame with v5 also its a 4l1 frame number yet was 1st registered as a candy blue 350

Be careful what you do here mate . I had nightmares with the DVLA last year trying to register a new frame no. on an existing V5 after a rebuild . After months of messing about ( and two inspections ) dozens of phone calls and visits to my local office I lost the existing Reg no. and had to re register it . I also had to strike out the 4LO frame no. and re stamp it with a new SABTVR no. My advice is to think carefully and have as little as possible to do with the DVLA . Their point of view is that these new rules help stop " ringing " . HTH

Thanks to u all for the help thanks to gazzatt2 who gave me the answer there was a number missing which is on a v5 but not on the frame so put in right number and its all legal and above board so it looks like I will finally get my lc on the road in August for my 50th lol

Well I didn't know and with no v5 to look at oh well at least my bikes safe and after waiting 32 years to own 1 wasn't giving it up now thanks for all the help though that's worth it's weight in gold alone Andy
