As part of my quest to improve the mid range on my 350LC (4L0) I've opted for the PWK28 carbs.
Now I have a set of carbs but need to source/find a few parts and also find out how (if possible) to make them autolube compatible and what base settings I should start with.
The Carb details are;
V607 and V608 - EJ24's Mains are 135 Pilots are 40 Needle is N99E - mid slot position at the moment
Parts needed;
2 x chokes 1 x tick over adjuster screw 2 x Throttle cable adapters (fit in carb tops) - Can make some if required
Questions;
1. Where do I get the parts mentioned above? 2. Converting to be autolube, one of the carbs has a vacuum take off point (by the looks anyway) on the front top side of the carb, the other has the casting so I can drill it out to make it the same, has anybody done this? 3. What baseline settings should I be looking at for the jets? 4. Can you get rubbers to connect the carbs to the standard airbox as the intake is quite a bit bigger, or do people just fit K&N's etc?
The engine is currently pretty much standard at the moment and only has some small can allspeeds fitted.
I do intend doing other things to the engine as mentioned in my other thread, but want to get the carburation side of things sorted first before I start playing with other stuff
Thanks in advance

Hi,
If you look in the rebuilds section at my 385 YPVS thread it shows the scottoiler spigots fitted ( did eventually cut down to fit flush on the inside ) and the spigot in the rubber ( I used it for a vac line )
Standard jetting should be fine for a start, I'm going up on the main and down on the pilot ( 140 main, 36pilot. I may have spare pilots if you need them ) and you can stretch the airbox rubbers over (well you can on YPVS but best to fit to carb first )
Sticking with airbox is best and you can get the elbows for the top of the carbs from allens performance but take a deep breath first. You may be able to use the standard adjusters on the LC
chokes and adjuster screws can be had cheap on ebay ( scooter assasins I think do thumbwheel adjusters which is good as the RH carb has it on the left. just search pwk and oko

Fairly simple job First, use a pair of pliers to pull the brass injectors out of an old set of carbs. On the L/H PWK there is a blank lug, drill this half way through with a 4mm drill then the rest of the way through with a 1.2mm drill. Glue the injector into the 4mm hole with araldite or loctite, ensuring you dont block the 1.2mm hole. On the R/H PWK the lug has a brass vacume pipe, pull this out with pliers then drill and tap to M6. Get a 6mm allen bolt which does not quite go all the way through. Put a nut on it and clamp in vice then drill half way through with 4mm drill then the rest of the way through 1.2mm. Glue this into the boss and then glue the injector into the bolt. Leave overnight for the glue to set, job done ;D

thanks guys, I knew I wasn't trying to do anything that hasn't been done before !
I'll try and sort the parts out, I can make some throttle cable adjusters if need be - especially if they are a silly price - hell its only some 6mm tube with a fine 6mm thread on each end and a slight bend in the middle !
Drilling for the autolube, that's spot on Nik, I'll make some adapters up to make them both the same and get them fitted
Airbox rubbers, they look like they are way too small, so maybe look at some alternatives, can always make summat up

ok, got the chokes and tick over screws sorted, got 2 carb overhaul kits with cold starts in for £30 delivered so I am well chuffed with that
The cable adjuster thread is 6mm fine (0.75 pitch), so looking at prices of 90 degree elbows I might make some as they seem a bit p*ssed with the price, but will keep looking
found a couple of autolube spiggots, so can crack on with modding the carbs which just leaves the airbox rubbers, which I am looking into !

The LC air box rubbers will stretch over the carbs, warm them up first pull them over a beer bottle or similar then whip them off and stretch them over. Jess

130 mains and 40 jets are Fine (works perfectly on mine :-) JJH Needles Tho! Carb cables didn't need (seemed to work best actually) sans any metal bend gizmos on the carb tops on MY LC. I had to cobble up a wee metal ring to insert into the Airboot rubbers about 1/2" away from the PWK bellmouth as the Stretched rubbers tended to shrink worryingly at that point. Rings stretched and restored the size of the rubber tube .

thanks guys
OEB, did see your message, my last post was about trying to find some Kr1S rubbers, none on the bay, can thye still be bought from Mr Kawasaki does anyone know?
That's the route I intend taking
Looking into thecabel adjusters at the moment, think I've possibly got that sussed as well, once I get a 6mm metric fine de the right size anyway !

If you have an old set of LC carbs that are no good you can remove the adjusters from the top of them & fit to the PWKs that's what's fitted to the ones in my pic

Hi Nik, yeah I've got a few, just sorting a 6mm metric fine die out and then I'll be modding some, already started on the mod's for the autolube, making 2 adapters out of some steel, with a fine thread on, with a 1.2mm hole all the way through, and counter bored larger for the length of the spigot.
Then just a case of mounting the carbs on the pillar drill and carefully machining the castings to the right size, drill a small 1.2 hole through the one that is blanked off and then tapping out to fit the adapters, job done !
Sounds so bleeding easy if you say it quickly ! ;D ;D

you can buy OKO copies for £49.99 from scooter + mini-bike places.
from contacts I have in the US, ONLY OKO copies are any good, but you are advised to use genuine Keihin jets to ensure consistancy.
Ive got a couple for a lot less than that, so will report back if they are shite or not.....

Again; Do Not buy Copies. It ..Really does.. make a difference. Those few saved Coins may not feel so good in your pocket when these work poorly and unreliably... necessitating replacement Also buy Genuine Keihin parts .. jets, needles. These have a wee 'K' logo stamped on as identifiers. Buy cheap.. buy twice, or even repeatedly.
