Hi,
Is there any way to test if the rear shock is in good working order? Can't ride and tell as the bike is all striped down. When I took all of it apart the rear wheel had eaten thru the mudguard but the shock setting was found at 1. This is from a 350 F1.

Try removing the spring and see if the damper element isworking, check for leaks on the damper rod, but itwont tell you if the oil inside has stopped working when it gets warm. Had that problem with my gpz cold the damping felt fine, once going after 20 miles the thing just wallowed, same with my Africa twin, to be honest put it back in when it's rebuilt and check it then save yourself the £300 upfront ifyou don't needto spend it

You are right about testing before spending. Is seems like there is not much I can do for now. I will check the dampening, Is there supposed to be air in there also?
