OK, appreciate nowhere as big as a resto as most on here and ive got someone to do the work but im not less excited about the whole thing!
Dropped the LC off to the restorers today, have a better picture of the damage to the tank ..its also cracked the side panel and split the leading edge of the mud guard in the last week.
Anyway, its only money...
Spent an hour with the chap discussing what id like doing over a cup of tea, its hard to see but most of the nuts / bolts, hose clips, cable guides etc have lost their finish and in some cases are rusty, so thats all going to be replated/re chromed/powder coasted as approriate.
I think i may have to go through some of the forum shops wares in the coming weeks..
Im going to have done..
Engine performance check/service.
New neutral light switch(doesnt work all the time)
Exhausts need to be finished in something durable.
Fork legs/foot peg hangers polished.
Crankcases media blasted.
Barrels and head blasted and painted( they have been hand painted...)
Wheels and discs blasted and re-painted(again,, been painted by hand)
Polished/refinished/coated fasteners / springs etc etc throughout.
Side/centre stand re powder coated
Carbs ultrasonically cleaned.
New fuel lines, 2 stroke tubing
Check wiring loom.
...and lastly the paintwork, I think i may as well do the whole lot now.
Was rather pleased , seeing as it hadnt been started for a couple of weeks and had been on its side, that it started second kick and idled smoothly after a minute or so..looks like an original toolkit may be lurking in the "boot" as well...
Roll on Spring 2013!
