my standard 250lc wont go over 85 is this correct? thought they were capable of the ton.runs a bit bit rough until 6000rpm then pulls well to about 8500rpm.checked carbs jets and emulsion tubes clear.does run cooler on right pot though?

Mine will just hit the ton but last year had a top end rebuild plus carb kits etc etc. I can only imagine set up ie gearing, carbs unless the bikes highish mileage and getting tired so could be a little low on compression. Hth

Check everything and don't forget the exhausts (see if they are bunged up with carbon and crud)

bike is lowish mileage 14k believed to be correct still on standard bore though, perhaps a rebore might be solution, exhausts are clear and baffles okay, just seems to run out of steam at 80ish.previous owner said he put new rings in but if bores are worn that wont help much

Something is not right as said check all.Carbs seem most likely but could be spokets but carbs are the more likely

I'd say that's optimistic. Maybe down a long hill with a tailwind but my standard 250LC would do about 95 caning the arse out of it. My tuned 275 LC was a different matter and that would do indicated 110 on the flat.

I know it might sound if I'm taking the urine( I'm not ) but have you got the correct plugs in? (B8ES) Bike should show a ton on the clock (on a track day, not on the roads!) if its in good fettle, and with a little work its quite easy to get it to 110, even with standard sit up and beg bars.

Most do about 95 in standard trim and gearing . but some can do over a ton. i had one that would not do over 95 even down a hill that was it nothing more. my first 250 with crons on would do just about 110 flat out down a hill .

Back in the day i had a standard 250 and could never get it over the magic to...no matter how hard I tried!!! I later bought, what turned out to be a tuned 250, and that bad boy was faster than my friends standard 350!!!....very reliable as well Oh happy days! Patrick my standard 250lc wont go over 85 is this correct? thought they were capable of the ton.runs a bit bit rough until 6000rpm then pulls well to about 8500rpm.checked carbs jets and emulsion tubes clear.does run cooler on right pot though?

I remember when the 350 came out, I was stoped on the Kendal by pass having a fag & 3 350lcs came past in the opposite direction. All 3 of them were flat on the tank and flat out. after they flashed past I looked at my CB900 and knew I'd made a mistake!!! Anyone here?

Never mind the top speed guys, we rode out last night with me on a 250lc with microns and my son on a bandit600 and a friend on a kwacker 636 and they both said they worked real hard to stay with me on our usual twisty route.

I once seen 130mph on the clock out of my F2 down a very long hill. It had 40k on the clock or there abouts at the time. I remember the guy in the local bike shop telling me for months i was on borrowed time ;D Well that time did come and times where hard i still rode it for a while with the crank banging away for a few weeks till one day it banged no more Are them were the days
