My MK1
Around 2004/05 i acquired a Rd 125 LC. It was easy transport at the time to get to work and alot cheaper then getting my car licence.
She was lovely little runner. and the smell of 2 stroke was far too addictive, not to mention the powerband.
I did burn through a set of piston rings, these were replaced and the bike was fine (damn powerband!).
long story short i joined the army and she went into storage.
Just left the army and I'm a little wiser, have my full bike license and understand the issues that the bike had and how i can get her running sweeter than ever.
Specs:
Nikon exhaust
K&N style air filter
6 mm spacer plate on reeds
+1.50 over bore
oil is pre-mix
12a carb with 240 main jet.
Back when i was young(er)
How i get her from Sheffield to Cornwall:
So, down to the nitty gritty.
Was having charging issues, so did all the tests with a multi meter and the conclusion was the stator/alt, bought a working one and came to fitting it and the wires didn't match up with the CDI unit, turns out the CDI and stator were a MK3 on a MK1 loom.
Swapped out the CDI, stator and flywheel out for Mk1's and all is good.
Gave her new fluids and oils and ran her for a week, loving every second of the powerband and the smell of 2 stroke.
Started seeing coolant in the glass window so had to do some more problem solving, resealed water pump and flushed with cheap oil and then put some decent in.
after a 10 mile run the coolant was back in.
Stripped the water pump and took the clutch case off to find this:

New seal fitted, just waiting for the instant gasket to set to see if all is good.
Couple of pics as she stands now:
