Ive powdercoated my swingarm and now cant see the adjuster mark, which is seriously annoying...
The arm is the non banana 'P model', ie the braced arm, but i think it and the banana share the same uneven sides. so... can anyone tell me if i can just use the back edge of the arm as the datum point or can you measure the sides for me and let me know so i can scribe some new marks?
Thanks guys!
....I should add that ive searched all over the net and cant find a download of the owners manual for one of these as I assume that would show me pics of the sides, if anyone has those pages scanned id be grateful. ta.

Eeek... worrying on a bike of that power...
My problem is that i dont know of a start point to measure from... I can measure from the swingarm pivot of course, but that seems silly as there should be something closer I could use... surely... hmm...

i use verniers too even on standard 4lo to make sure its even on both sides ,them little marks are not that accurate and are only a guide .also guage it by the amount of gap in tyre at each side of swinger

The easiest way to do it is knock up a rod to measure from the centre of the swing arm spindle to the centre of the wheel axle, once these are equal make your own mark on the swing arm to line up with the chain adjusters & go from there. TBH the ideal way is to clamp a straight edge to each side of the rear wheel rim & line it up with the front rim ensuring equal margins front & back on each side of the front wheel, then make your own adjuster marks on the swing arm But hey ho everythings easy in hindsight bit late now

Thanks guys, especially Nick, whom Ive asked this question of before of course. And yes, anyone else doing this conversion should defo do this stuff before you paint and powder stuff, i didnt as i had all the parts pretty much done when i started.
I tried the rod idea and it quickly became apparent that as the swingarm bows out on the left it affects the measuring so had to give it up and in the end i just set the run up by eye with the front sprocket. it works, but id like to be sure its right before i make marks... sigh...
If anyone finds alloy/stainless adjusters then id be keen to know too... a few guys have made them and they look much better than the standard ones...
banana is a VJ22 and the same fittings as the other model swinger for teh 22 which is the braced 'P model' that i have, the 21 is totally different...
