OK guys. Going to upgrade the brakes on my 250LC (1982)
I was out for a run on my R1200GS AV on Sunday and some prat just pulled out in front of me. Even know I had my main lights and additional running lights on!! I was able to stop with the ABS flat out!!
This got me thinking if I was on the RD with its standard single disc I probably would have a fairly sore head today! :-)
So I am looking some advise on the best brakes to fit. Do I add an additional disc? Looking something easy to just bolt on without the need to make special brackets but would like to stop on a sixpence.
Not that concerned on cost as long as its worth it... Will I then need to upgrade fork springs?
Any help would be great..

Yeah but the LC weighs about as much as an Adventure tank full of petrol

Hi, You wont find a much better caliper that bolts straight on I'm afraid. Braided hoses, good pads and seals will help but the brake is still an old design and nothing like modern gear. Nk racing will make you a bracket so you can bolt on a modern caliper. These are R1 calipers with Nk racing brackets; You could get 1 caliper and 1 bracket and see a mahoosive improvement on braking Dusty

R1 Blue spots on mine too. Plenty stopping power for a tiddler!

Forgot to say, I have a TZR single disc setup on one of mine, and that is pretty sharp too, those R1 jobbies must be frightening

First Lc many moons ago got a Lockheed single caliper set up......Was fantastic.....Current bike has twin Lockheed set up and is extremely overbraked for me anyway......Old school but reliable and effective.

get a set of 31k calipers and a fazer master cylinder and a set of hagon springs keeps the looks of an lc and greatly improves stopping and improves handling.
