Bonjour, Does anyone on here have any experience of unblocking the choke circuit on a 125LC 12A Carb, other than maybe getting it untrasonic cleaned ?. The bike it's fitted to I was having problems starting from cold until I took the airbox inlet rubber off, partially blocked the inlet with a couple of fingers, then it started with the easiest of kicks. If you put the choke on when it's warm and running the revs rise like it's being leaned out which concurs with the fact that the choke isn't pulling petrol out of the float bowl and richening the mixture to aid starting when it's cold Any ideas you clever lot ?

Can you blow down the choke jet in the float bowl ? If the jet is gummed up with stale fuel you could try filling the float bowl in carb cleaner or perhaps boiling a kettle and filling with hot water to try and soften the gum. Remembering to flush out with carb or contact cleaner. Tone

Yeah I'll try tomorrow, the carb is on the bike at the min. I'm assuming the brass tube hangs down from the main body of the carb and dips into the petrol in the float bowl. It runs ok once it's started, so I assume the float height is ok (I have checked it and it seemed correct) I was just thinking out aloud of the possible scenario if the fuel level was too low in the float bowl then maybe the brass tube wouldn't be reaching into the fuel in the bowl ??. Is that possible ?. I have a couple of other 12A carb bodies here but neither of them can I blow up the tube, so I'm not sure if you're supposed to be able to or not. Would be unlucky if I had 3 carbs all blocked . I'm loathed to take the 10W carb of my running 125LC as that runs well and I like to leave well alone.....

The choke jet I mean is actually in the float bowl itself. If you look where the fuel would go in the bowl you will see a drilling down the side of the bowl that enters near the bottom of the bowl which is where it draws fuel from when the choke is pulled out.

Oh yeah, good call, I will check that at the same time Did have that exact same problem with my Fizz not so long ago. The float bowl choke channel was blocked with sand from a recently painted tank

i cleaned my pilot circuit out m8 using couple of cans of carb cleaner.there is a methodical way of doing it. while i was at it i also did the choke part.get urself a can n blast it into the little hole mentioned.it should blow through like a geezer ;D

SORTED !!!!! ;D ;D It was as Tone said and just the jet in the float bowl that was blocked. That is the most stupid small jet hole I have ever seen !!!! I have a micro drill bit set, and I mean so small you need a magnifying glass to see the smallest ones. I very carefuly selected one I knew would be smaller than the jet hole and carefully pushed it through the jet by hand without twisting it at all. Did that a few times until I found one that was a good fit and pushed that one in and out a few times (ooh err misses ;D). Stuck the nozzel tube of a can of WD40 on the inner hole in the float bowl and it fired a very fine jet of WD40 up out of the hole next to the gasket face so that's deffo clear now Started 3rd kick from an empty carb and the choke deffo richens it up. I wouldn't say as much as the choke on my white 125LC but if it starts 2nd or 3rd kick on a frosty morning I'd say it's as good as it needs to be Cheers Tone and Mr Mellow

autoglym tar remover for car bodywork ,removes the wax that gathers in unused float bowls very well.
