Hi All Having a bit of a headache with carbs after rebuild on a 250lc. The bike is running really rich on both cylinders, wont pull past 4-5k and wont tick over. have set float hights and although main jet is 170 as apposed to 190 for some reason (which should make it run weak) everything else seems fine (although carbs can leak occaisionaly which suggests float needle vavles might need replacing). It has drop bars fitted with the clock protectors and this does effect the routing of the throttle cable to the point where it is on the limit of its adjustment, but bodys seem to close. I checked the oil pump and to make sure it wasn't this have disconected it and run on premix - still the same. removed the air filter foam - still the same. I know i need new jets and float needles but I don't want to spend money and keep stripping the carbs until I identify the problem - any suggestions?

Just checked, think it's 20 as per manual. markings are 020 although first 0 has a little square bit in the corner.

Thanks for the advice so far, much appreciated. I think the chke is ok, I removed the mechanism and it seems ok, it has a positive click to it. I love the look of the dropped bars but the adjusters at the carb tops and handlebars are backed off to the min and there doesn't appear to be the few mm of it slack it says is required. However, I would have thought this would just have made it rev, not run really rich. Something is pretty far out somewhere!

Sometimes these things are hard to do online. The reason I asked about the pilots was that a guy last year on the A/C forum forgot to put them back in ! He had the same problems you are having.

Have you got the throttle slides in the correct carbs as these are different. Make sure the cutaway of the slides face back towards airbox
