hi folks just bought 1987 rd125lc in bits v5 says registered 1987 frame number 2hk000271 engine number 1gm 004280 is this a mk2 or mk3 many thanks colin

Hi mate,im a nooby but i have a rd125lc mk3 uk model which is 2hk,and also have a mk2 rd125 that is 1gm,so it sounds like its a uk mk3 frame with a mk2 engine in it. but the guys will let us know if thats correct.

As above sounds like a MK3 frame witha MK2 engine fitted . does the barrel have a powervalve fitted . Im asooming is does not . having said that you can put a MK3 barrel on a MK2 bottom end if you fit a MK3 conrod.

thanks for the feedback lads the barrel has a powervalve this is whats confusing.as i going to rebuild engine i will need a mk3 con rod thanks again colin

same as mine then m8. Mk2 bottom end with mk3 top end it "may" already have had the conrod changed does the piston come flush with the top of barrel or stick out of it??

hello mellow did not come with piston so i cannot check this but ive split engine , will do crank again as its not running true anyway will replace mains aswell. better to start from scratch again so i know its right

good thinking when you have it apart may as well do everything new so you can breath eazy knowing it all new when you start riding .
