Can anyone tell me what thread the water temperature sender in the cylinder head is? I need to clean up the threads and don't know what tap to use.
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers.

Had this problem recently and turns out there are 2 different threads depending on model.
Early ones with the blade type sender had a straight thread where as the later bullet type had a taper thread.
Early sender will not fit in the later head but tapered sender should go in both.
I simply had to use the later sender and all was good. It is a wierd thread but think some one said there wasn't much difference with an M10 x 1.0. Not 100% sure, some one will confirm.

1/8" NPT 27 TPI
Lights blue touchpaper & stands well back.

Ok thanks. I was thinking it was maybe 1/8 BSPT as the tap seems to start ok but couldnt understand why that thread would be used on a Jap bike. M10 x 1.0 wont even start. Have you used NPT in the past? Thanks.

I have an NPT tapered tap & it fits perfectly. Used it to clean out a few heads after having them powdercoated.
The commonly used landy temp sender then screws in nicely.
