What is the actual difference between 250LC & 350LC standard pipes? I've got several pipes with no markings on the rear mounting bracket. What am i looking for even if I have to cut the pipe open & re-weld it?

What am i looking for even if I have to cut the pipe open & re-weld it? If there is no "0" stamped on the rear of the hanger bracket than they are 250 pipes. AKAIK the only internal differences are the amount of holes drilled in the baffle plates. 4no 10mm holes = 250 8no 10mm holes = 350 HTH OEB

Thanks OEB, So... If I removed the baffles & timed how long it took for, say, 5 gals. of water to flow through the pipes - the pipes that flow faster should be 350 pipes. Any holes in that theory?? (There's a pun there ;D)

Maybe I need to leave a baffle in? The same one each time?

Can you not see the baffle plate when the baffles are removed?
I've never shone a torch down mine ..........

I couldn't see much. - The first baffle I pulled was followed by a length of round tube; I guess an internal "stinger' positioned before the baffle? I could see 3 concentric rings that hold the baffle in place but I couldn't see any holes in them.
- The 2nd baffle broke off inside the pipe.
- The 3rd baffle - from a pipe I'd got off a wrecker marked RD350, came out quite easily but the pipe seemed to have another, broken off, baffle inside.
I'll check some of the other pipes tomorrow.

It sounds like you've got a lovely collection of pipes there! ♠ 4 x RHS, 2 x LHS all in roughish condition but nothing a coat of paint won't fix but I can't figure out which are 250 or 350. I removed all the baffles peered inside to see nothing obviously distinguishable. All pipes seem to have 4 (NOT 3 as I previously mentioned) concentric steel rings which support the baffle but I can't see any holes in baffle plates. I can't find any "0" stamped on the rear hanger bracket nor paint markings. Where is the "0" supposed to be - on the inside the bracket or outside? Have I missed something?

Info lifted from the RD/RZ Forum (thanks to Kev, redbimota) RD350 LC with the 8 holes is the baffle plate near the rear hanger RD350LC showing 8 holes and where Kev has cut the pipe in front of the Hanger RD250LC with 4 holes in baffle plate The 0 is stamped on the inside of the hanger bracket 350 pipe 250 pipe HTH OEB

So is there any way of modifying the baffle instead of trying to mod. those holes ?

So is there any way of modifying the baffle instead of trying to mod. those holes ? Dont think Mr Yamaha would have gone tho' all the fuss of making different pipes for the 250 & 350 if it was as easy as modding the baffles. OEB

In the picture the gas still comes through the big center hole correct ?

Surley it is much easier to put one of two simple pressed out discs into a jig during manufacture than to re-design a complex baffle ? Going on the assumption the discs are the only differance.
