My LC frame is an early one so didn't originally have stabiliser bar mounts. A previous owner had welded on a couple of home made mounts but they were crap and the left one has ripped off leaving an inch long hole in the cross tube where the weld was. Now I have a dilemma. Fabricate some new mounts (extra work), or not bother and just get the hole repaired? After all the mounts are largely redundant when you have spring mounted pipes aren't they?
What you reckon?

I have a pair of Kennys stainless pipes which had to be modified to a slip joint because i have no stabiliser mounts and the pipes started cracking no problems now afte Kenny sorted pipes ,allspeeds and microns were ok but standard pipes cracked as well ,as long as pipes have a sprung joint should be no problem

Think it depends on what the bike is.
If it is a standard matching numbers then I'd leave it without them to keep it original.
If it's non matching or modded then totally up to you, as others said if using pipes with collars and springs it doesn't really matter.
If you are fitting them I'd agree with getting a scrap frame as would be better if it was done properly.

Cheers Guys, I have decided to fit the bars as the bike is putting out reasonable power and does get some abuse so a bit of extra engine location can't do any harm. I'm not going to fabricate though as I haven't got the facilities so will be looking at grafting a cross tube in from a donor frame. I have a set of bars and crankcases to get everthing jigged up so it can be welded in properly. All I need now is a frame tube if anyone's got one going?

Judging by the vibes my YPVS/LC puts out Rich I think I'd be looking at putting them on, I had one come loose at Cadwell and I certainly felt the increase in vibration. I agree with whats been said already, if it was an original LC early numbers matching etc. then I'd say leave well alone, but it's a valve engined LC with mods, weld them on m8
