g'day, many bikes here that get restored to mint or close to it look to me like they should be in a museum, they would be better than the day they rolled of the floor, with lots of money and time gone into it, when mine is finished i will ride it once in a while just to keep it alive and only in good dry weather,it will not be as good as many of the bikes on here,so to those who went the whole hog and made a stunner, do you ride them much or like to show them?in an ideal world i would like a minter to show and one a bit rough to thrash.

mines gonna be a minta, but will thrash it, no point in having an elsie if you dont ride it like you hate it, even when you love it lots.

Keep mine as mint as i can, just look after them. Try to avoid the salt and rain in the winter but they all get a thrashing at least once at week, and when i say thrashing i mean it

Mine's not a minter but I'd say it's pretty fresh (looking). I try to avoid salt and rain, although I must admit it has happened. And yes, you can definitly see that the paint doesn't like the salt. Btw, I rarely clean the bike other then the chain/sprockets, only time I really clean it is when I take most of it apart. I don't like the idea of getting water everywhere.

My bikes are all clean. R1 used to be meticulously cleaned after each ride. But,as i ride it quite fast its innevitably gettin covered in stone chips and due to it having a tapered belly pan the lovely stones flick right along the side of it too With that said it looks mint from about a meter away.no rust,no furry alloy, all polished and shiny The F2 was supposed to be tarted up and used.It goes out at least twice a yr ;D It also gets thrashed, its the only way to ride it.I would love to ride it more often but dont want it gettin chipped to f**k like the R1 and as its slowly catchin the R1 up value wise it would be silly Oh............................and i dont do moisture........and i definately dont do salt.As soon as roads are gritted thats it,stripped washed n waxed ready for spring

well thanks alot for all the replies, it will be ridden at least once a week, in good weather, the general feeling i get is its got to be ridden fairly hard, just what they were made for, still a fair way off so for now i will have to figure out a way so i dont get any stone chips, dont worry when i work out how i do this i will tell you all. PS only a couple of weeks ago on my favourite ride went around a corner and pow about 500meters of that bullst#t road repair (tar and stones) did a U turn and went home.

checked the mileages on a couple of my bikes and sadly the difference year to year seems to be the distance to and from the MOT centre...
Must get out more.......
