Tracey's 350LC has just started to develop some clutch slip.
What's the general consensus on the best replacement clutch (plates and springs) on a standard engine 350LC. It's in standard tune other than Large Can Allspeeds, Pod Filters and jetting to suit.
I don't want to be putting anything unnecessary in like heavy duty springs, as I don't want the clutch lever operation any heavier than it needs to be.
Cheers

Cool, we do a fair bit of green laning/off-roading in the IOM. I've got a TTR250 and Tracey a Serow 250

My brother lives in the states and gets me stuff from time to time and brings it over for me when he visits Like recently 2x re-designed genuine Yamaha rotors for my R1 and FZ1n, which was cheaper for 2 over there than to buy just one here (£675 each)

I've never had any problems either really, just use super unleaded in any of our bikes from wherever. If I'm not riding any bikes for more than a few months, I either run them dry and don't run them at all, or I run them at least once a month for a few minutes. If the fuel in them gets to 6 months old, I just syphon it out (takes about 30 seconds with a pipe I have), then put fresh super in. Only thing I get sometimes is fuel pipes going like concrete

Some strange things going on there, but yeah as usual with a 'special' the next owner would do something different. Whats going on with the thick PV cables? Yeah they are thick eh ? but I don't think anything is located where it original was, so assume they were made especially ?.

Tracey's 350LC has original (80's) large can Allspeeds and they are stamped around the very end of the end can.

with mine first registeed april 1982, i gather i will be able to apply for historic vehicle status april 2022? No, it will be MOT exempt from April 2022 (40yrs to the day after it was registered), but it won't be eligible for Historic Status until April 2023 (basically the April following year it became 40yrs old)

OK, fair cop. But as the bike has just been reassembled from quite a large number of pieces, having an MoT as a sanity check seemed like a good idea to me. And it also gave me an entirely legitimate reason to take it for a first ride for over 30 years, to and from the Test centre... Yes, agree, spot on

Isn't it over 40yrs old ?. In which case you can just fill in the MOT exemption form at the Post Office and Tax it there ?. The details on the DVLA site indicate that you can only apply for historic vehicle status on April 1st the year after it became eligible. It became 40 years old on 8th August 2020, so by those guidelines I will need to wait until April 1st 2021 to claim historic status. In other news, it passed its MoT today with no advisories...
Well congrats on passing the MOT but........ You're getting confused between 40yrs MOT exemption and "Historic Status". The very DAY it becomes 40yrs old, it's becomes MOT exempt (subject to certain conditions), so you can fill out an "MOT Exemption" form V112 stating section "R" "Historic Status", isn't applicable until the April following the year it became 40yrs old, will then also make it free to Tax.

Cheers chaps. I was rather hoping I could just get it M0T'd and then tax it online, but that doesn't seem to be an option. It fired up for the first time in 31 years today, and is booked in for an MoT tomorrow... Isn't it over 40yrs old ?. In which case you can just fill in the MOT exemption form at the Post Office and Tax it there ?.

If you're the registered keeper and the address is correct, you can just ring up and pay £25 and they'll send you a replacement
But it should be free if you wait to register it as Historic in April

Given that all the details haven't changed and are still correct, I'm surprised you didn't receive an updated V5C when they upgraded them.
I wouldn't think you'd have a problem Taxing at any Post Office if you have an MOT Exemption certificate filled out and a valid Insurance Certificate.
The only spanner possibly is they do everything on barcodes now, that old V5 won't have. Maybe they can just use the reg ?
Like you say, I'd hope to get the latest V5C when you send it off to change the Taxation Class to Historic.

That’s the road, think we will get over when the restrictions are lifted, even if it’s a bit later in the year. The place is magic. Give us a shout when you're over, see if we are here. We're normally here Spring to Autumn but often elsewhere in winter We're about 30 seconds ride from the Ramsey Hairpin, so I normally go in the opposite direction to warm the bike up for a bit before hitting the unrestricted sign just after the Hairpin

We used to live 5 mins from J7. If we wanted to get anywhere, it was best to be off the M25 before 6:30am, after that it was hopeless. Now we live on the Isle of Man and the nearest thing to the M25 is a short overtaking lane on the road out of Douglas towards Castletown Wish I could retire there. Nearest I will get is probably grange on sands for instance. Overcooked it a bit once on an overtaking lane before fairy bridge, was an uphill curve coming out of a dip. That was 30 years ago though and not so many years ago thought the layout had changed. A few years ago I bought a bike from west London, I like to collect bikes in a van and check them out at home before committing to trusting getting me anywhere. The van though is too old to go far inside the m25 due to the emissions zone. The wife had an appointment near Heathrow so got her to pick me up from the van parked just off the 25 and drop me at the bike shop who incidentally are c- - - -s . The bike didn’t make the 10 or so mile journey, very luckily it was only a 250 but still knackered me pushing it round the 25 to the junction where the van was. Didn’t help that it was hot. Just prayed a camera operator wouldn’t alert the police who would insist I stop and stay behind the barriers. In my boredom I picked up on a van on the far oncoming carraigeway that hooted, didn’t think anything of it but a bit later the same van cut me off on the hard shoulder with a large group inside, who could have passed as a mobile car wash service, can’t give proper detail. Anyway, they sort of offered to transport the bike but I didn’t trust them and said, no I’m ok, not far to go. They were virtually laughing in my face, reckon they just cruised around looking for a victim. The long hard push was worth it when coming round a curve to see the van again, thought was going to get hassled again, but as I got nearer I could see one of their tyres had shredded and they were broken down as they didn’t seem to have a spare. When they had pulled away from me they stayed on the hard shoulder for a long time, where all the crap is. When I squeezed past they weren’t laughing anymore and wouldn’t look at me, bet I was home before them. Ha, a good story . Ironically our UK house (currently being sold) is JUST inside the M25 and one road away from entering the Low Emission Zone. My Van's a 2004 so fine in the LEZ, it's the ULEZ (same as congestion zone boundaries) that's really strict and a pain. We always just head south when leaving that house lol. The overtaking lane here is Richmond Hill on the New Castletown Rd heading out of Douglas. It is on the road to Fairy Bridge (the fake commercial one lol), and is after a right-hander dip in the road before heading up the hill, so probably is the same one ? .

How you doing Andy ? You and Tracy well I hope ? Dusty Hey mate, Yeah all good, and you ?. We're making the most of life over here, especially as it's been Covid free for some while and pretty much normal, except for very limited Tourists with only the air bridge with Guernsey. I'm sure it'll come back in some capacity now that residents are traveling on and off the island. I have the FZ1n here too, I polished the wheels again last weekend (I try and limit that to once or twice a year max lol) and Tracey rode it to a bike show

Hi,
Well after a good running in and loosening up it was better but seems a characteristic unfortunately, especially with an aftermarket pipe.
One thing I found was it likes a standard airbox, lid on and tight etc., mine had a Pipercross foam element in it
My bike ended up on a 170 main jet (10w carb) and Micron Exhaust and it was fast (for a 125) but no way pulling into the power band after 3rd gear without dropping down a gear. It was basically ok upto 45mph ish not using the power band at all, any faster, then the power band is required lol.
The bottom end is much better with a standard unrestricted pipe (10W), not so good with an Allspeed and worse with a Micron.
Only other option is a MK3 with working YPVS ?. I had a TZR125 2RK after with working power valve, similar power band power but much more low down grunt
Cheers :-)

I have a Hotrods Pro crankshaft if my tuned YPVS. Been in there a few years and had some abuse including a few track days.
From memory it has upgraded 10 Ball mains and TZ type big ends.
Got mine from Martin at Mad Biker Designs (really nice bloke)

I normally get my genuine carb spares from Allens Performance. They sell genuine manufacturer parts but not with the uplift in price once they are in motorcycle manufacturer's bags with part numbers .
