Many thanks mellow. Pic DSCF0030-1.jpg was taken last night so the black wire will be in place. I will check the blue ones tonight. We will work on the electrics tonight so no doubt I will be online later seeking guidance. ;D The cancelling unit is connected to the bike. I will check these wires tonight. Thanks for the help mate.

Good news - we have a spark! Bad news - we've pretty much resigned ourselves that the battery is knackered! Plus, we're still having wiring issues: wire 1=yellow/black from turning signal relay wire 2=yellow/black from wiring loom wire 3=yellow/green from wiring loom - can be traced to connector attached to wiring from cancelling unit looking at the Haynes wiring diagram, the signal relay has a yellow/black which connects to what looks like a splitter connection (yellow/black and yellow/green) only as you can see on the picture, the connections on each wire wouldn't allow this, nor do we remember the bike being like this! plus I've traced the yellow/green to the cancelling unit so it makes sense for yellow/green to be attached to the signal relay, but I can't find what the yellow/black would be attached too, and in the diagram, yellow/black from that section becomes a black wire, leading to loads of stuff so no chance! Also, the blue line I've drawn in... the muppet before us had created a connector that was too short and as a result left us with a random wire - which we've now twigged is supposed to connect to the white connector at "B". what we were wondering was if we could make new connections for each individual wire, and do white to white for the 3 white wires and blue to sky blue (C) Thanks for all your help so far guys, almost there, just a little bit more and we'll finally have corrected the biggest bodge in biking history!

Thanks peeps Still no joy, have put the new battery on tonight and the bike is as dead as a doornail. The powervalves dont wirr like normal, horn, lights etc not working everything is wired up now. I think the fuses may be knackered. Was going to test them with my multimeter but I can bloomin find it. Any suggestions peeps. Im getting close to kicking this bike.

This is probably stating the obvious but have you checked you have a good connection at the ignition switch plug connector?

It was modified before I had the bike, the wires must have been correct as the bike did run before the rebuild.

The only black wires that spring to mind are the one at the back of the bike and the one on the cdi. The haynes (page 23) mentions a earth strap is connected from the battery to the gearbox is fixed and making a good contact. I dont remember seeing this on the bike before.

ACTUALLY........................theres a single black wire i think and then a double connector...........if i remember correct one indicator goes in the double with the single black n the other indicator goes into the other single connector...........if that makes sense
