Hello This is where Im at with my F2 rebuild, with the help of my accomplice Rufarse we sprayed the frame last night with PJ1 paint, ok so its not as good as powder coating but it looks a hell of a lot better than it did. Ive taken mellow’s advice and spray painted the swinging arm, but I got a few runs in the paint, so Im going to strip it and repaint it tonight. Im fitting my new shock absorber tonight which I got from norbo amd Im also going to put the wiring loom back in place tonight and fit my newly powder coated centre stand. By the way would I have to go to yamaha to get a new spring for the stand? By the weekend the bike should (I hope) be back on two wheels. Ive painted one of the wheels but the paint is peeling, so Im going to get someone better than me to spray paint the wheels. Next week Im going to make a start on stripping the engine. I wonder what surprises wait for me in there as the previous owner of this bike treated this bike awful. So I have got the engine to sort, the wheels & discs, and bodywork, Ive spray painted the callipers and they look pretty good, Ive just got to get the calliper kits and front and rear master cylinder kits to sort the brakes out.

The wiring loom is back in place. Im struggling to get a decent finish on my swinging arm so we are stripping it and paint it again. (I dont think this swinging arm will ever rust again with the number of coats its had.) ;D ;D ;D I have a problem the fairing brackets on the side of the frame have broken off, could anybody weld me a bracket to get round this problem? Im willing to pay if someone could do this for me.

The frame hasnt been powder coated its been sprayed with PJ1 norbo. The previous owner did a bodge with some washers to fix the fairing mounting brackets to the bike, but Im really after a permenant solution instead of a bodge. Me and rufarse have said the bike is to be "bodge" free. ;D Im clearing my bench off tonight to make a start on stripping the engine whilst Rufarse strips and resprays the swinging arm (yet again : This is the conditon of the barrels. Its as far as Ive got to looking at the engine, the engine was rather noisy before the rebuild and there is a lot of blow back on the pistons suggesting that the rings are knackered. So Im think Im going to play safe and have the barrels rebored and Prox engineering look at the crank and repair it if necessary.

do you realize you've wrecked zebrd's post, thats another 1 There's a surprise eh Scott. ;D ;D ;D Only joking. Got the barrels off the engine and the powervalves out, got to get the flywheel off tonight, do you guys know a good method to get it off, I havent got a con rod or flywheel holding tool. Can I put the engine in gear to stop the flywheel from turning and then get the nut off or do you have another method?

ok seious for a minute...you need to lock the crank in place...penny piece between the gears can work...or as the tops off...summit thru the small end hole n protect the crankcases with some wood or summit...gonna need a puller tho...

keep them piccys coming you two...where abouts are you guys anyway?...not pesky northerners are you? ;D ;D ;D Hey Pablo, I'm most definitley a pesky northerner and proud of it, Northern monkey through and through! Zeb's one of them dodgy midland folk! As for the hijacking - only a matter of time Planning on priming the swinger tonight, unless I get collared into helping with the engine ;D The bike is coming on a treat, and at this rate, we might get to change the fork seals on mine soon!!

Ive got a puller, I cant get at the gears yet as the crankcases are still together. I may be able to hold the alternator with the clutch holding tool me thinks. Im gonna give it a go tonight.

put a socket extension bar through the small end hole on con rod like pabs says. but put pieces of wood either side so the bar doesnt go onto crank case.thats how i did mine.

Ive put a coin inbetween the clutch and the other end of the crank, so as to stop the crank from turning and to jam it in place. The nut holding the fywheel on is one hell of a stubborn bitch, ive had a socket wrench on it and it wont budge, should i be turning towards the front sprocket or away from it? Cheers Zeb

No I havent took the clutch off yet. Thanks for looking anyway pablo. Are you using the haynes manual? That is the manual I have. Ive tried Mellows method of using a socket extension and a bit of wood, but still cant get it to budge. I have heard of some people glueing the nut so it cant come undone. But for a torque wrench not to budge it is takin the pee. Ive soaked it in WD40 and will have another go tomorrow.

PMSL Pablo, before I get the lump hammer on it and smash it to bits you mean. GGGRRRR!!!! ;D ;D ;D I would have thought it would be a right handed thread because when you use a flywheel puller they are for left handed threads, I maybe wrong, lets hope someone can confirm it. Cheers Pablo anyway.

PMSL guys Definitely not Bodgit and Scarper - think they owned the bike before Zeb, bloomin fool had a strange fetish for silicone, and I ain't talking of the buxom variety!!! dozy berk had siliconed almost everything he possibly could. As Zeb said, this is gonna be done properly, this is the warm up for the next one!

bout time we had sum more pics on here zeb Ok mellow. This is the bike when I had it. Yes it looks "clean" but I can assure you it wasnt. Its caked in Sh*t. The last owner should have been disgusted with themselves. This is the engine as was. In need of a bit of a clean and polish you think? ;D ;D Mellow I will have more piccies at the weekend. The swining arm will be on and the bike will be on two wheels. We hope. ;D

Yes Im hogging the decent headlight fairings and No I dont need any more holy tanks. ;D
The reason for all the spares is because Im going to have 2 paint jobs for each bike. Namely original colours (near enough) and special paint jobs.

Took the engine to PJ engineering, they have undone the flywheel for me. They really are nice and friendly and Im confident they will do a first class job on my crank and barrels. Ive just goto split the crankcases and get the crank out and send it to PJ Engineering.

Your right mellow it wasnt too bad, Ive now split the crankcases and tonight Ive got to remove the crank and send it to PJ Engineering. Good job Ive decided to have the crank done as there is a lot of play in the conrods. Took my barrels to PJ Engineering at the weekend and they are very very helpful, Im sure my barrels and crank will be in good hands and they will do a great job.

PMSL Pablo Right then folks, the swinging arm is ready After: - wasting a day polishing the damn thing, - taking it back to square one in order to get a key ready for priming - spraying it, only for Zeb to get his hands on the spray can - stripping parts of it to get rid of the runs (see point 3) - getting another key, priming, spraying and lacquering - hiding all spray cans we are ready!!!!! (sorry it's so big, I did resize the bloody thing!)
