In case you were wondering or are very bored, please read ;D
This is the first 125 that my dad got me for my birthday in May this year (D reg Mk2 with matching numbers and Micron).
I soon after acquired another 125 LC, which I slowly chipped away at. Then my D reg had a bottom end failure (we all know how that feels ) so I stripped it of any parts that I needed for my rebuild project and the two bikes started to merge together. Also got my hands on a nos 10w carb
Took my micron, gave it a polish and added a silly end can.
Then, a few orders from Norbo and eBay and it go to this.
Then I finally got it on the road.
I was loving it.
Then I got a new seat
Then my nos Nikon.
Managed just over 1000 miles before it over heated (got carried away with my Nikon pipe fitted and revved it to 12,000 rpm in 5th at 85 mph with another gear to go) and blew the head gasket. I don't think that the fact I had no temp gage working, a rentec rad grill and only 1 jet size up from standard running Nikon and premix helped tbh .
But plug chop looked OK
Any way, it got to winter and I was out of ideas on the cooling system
So I got my Kenny Roberts stickers on
Got my spare (straight) head, cleaned it up and painted it in BBQ.
Fitted it and the cooling system is still pressurising (not due to over heating as coolant is still cool when it begins to leave the radiator)
Got a list as long as my arm of jobs that need and that I want doing to the bike before the weather warms up.
Would like to know that it is actually ridable before I start splashing cash on it though.
Plan now is to take the barrel and head into college and machine .25 of a mm off both sealing surfaces to ensure they are flat and to reduce the squish to 1.2mm.
We will see if it works
