I was out riding in August when my engine lost power and stopped, no weird noises just wouldn't start. I was booked on the LC Club stand at Brackley festival so took my bike in the van and after checking the other LC's there could tell mine had very little compression . So when i got it home i took the head off and found this Seems that the thrust washer and big end had broken apart and gone up through the engine destroying the crank, barrell, piston and head. I had spent most of my budget doing the bike up and replacing loads of parts so it has taken until now to get all the bits i need to rebuild the engine. I have decided to go to pre-mix as i think this was caused by the oil pump not delivering enough oil to the left pot as there were air bubbles in the pipe and also i can't afford to risk blowing the engine again the thinking being it will ensure enough oil gets to both pots and hopefully won't blow again. I started cleaning up the cases tonight and i am having a nightmare removing the hylomar instant gasket so does anyone know of a solvent for this stuff or is it just a case of time and patience. I'll post up picks as the rebuild goes along.
