Have just sourced a 1983 31k ypvs. Engine running sweet as a nut. Gonna stick the engine and carbs into a 4L0 or 4L1 frame. What all bits and bobs of the electrics of the 31k do i need to use. Can i use the 4L0/1 clocks and handlebar switches on 31k loom without mods The lockset on the 31k has same key for ign tank and seat. Can i use this on 4L0/1 without mods The 31k has later ypvs pipes. Can i use these on 4L0/1 Any info and help appreciated. All the stuff i am not using will be sold. I'll be listing the obvious stuff like forks, yokes, wheels, brakes, panels (plastic) , belly pan(fibreglass), fairing (fibreglass) fairing bracket, etc,etc in for sale soon or any offers will be considered if you wanna make me an offer for anything.

u will need all the electrical bits off the 31k m8,u might get away with using a 4LO or 31K coil tho as i think they are the same.
u can use 4LO clocks and switch gear but you'll have to cut the connections as the are different but i'm pretty sure the wires are the same colours for both bikes so should be easy enough.with it being a 31K motor it should have the tacho drive in the engine to work the 4LO tacho.
not sure about the lock set m8 :-/i think that the 31K ignition would bolt to a 4LO top yoke but the connections are deffo different so more cutting off connection blocks and re-doing. tank petrol cap may inter change from 31K to 4LO as they look pretty similar. seat locks don't know m8.
the rear bracket on the pipes will need to elongated or re-drilled to fit a 4LO frame and hangers,you may need to make a small bracket tho.

It all fits rather easily once you put your mind to it. Frankly though I'd give some thought to repairing the 31k. It's actually better Bike than the venerable LC, when all is said and done.

disc on wwr on right side front wheel...be a shame to break a matched numbers bike though tbh..... fitting it to lc is very easy and have done a few mods.... I'd never buy an engine without hereing it run so i had no choice. Will probably hold onto frame and sell case and frame together if i can get someone to do the crankcase mod to my 4L1 casing to accept ypvs barrels the hybrid will also have matching 4L1 numbers with ypvs motor as such.
