aaron, i used to work as an aircraft engineer, specifically restoring and rebuilding parts for spitfire aircraft,, and i still use the kit at the old workshop at Supermarine , im lucky enough to still get access to lots of kit, including tig, gas and arc welding, machine shop for milling and turning, as well as a big blasting cabinet etc, so i count my blessings for that !, i try to save bits of work up and have a few hours there over a weekend, and in turn ill do an hour or two on their stuff .......otherwise i feel guilty imposing on them :-), i dont like summat for nowt !, i try to pay my way in return with a favor . i would like my own little blaster at home though, im surprised just how much i use them, how about you?

hi kenny what is the diameter of the pipes? with the aid of your drawing i could get some made up at work most of our tube is coated and between 1.5 and 2mm thick

the original pipes have a big taper so are a lot smaller one end than the other, i kind of took the average and it fitted what i could get. 42.2mm OD x 2.7mm Wall that I can bend on a 4" CLR to 116 degrees. and it works a treat, .....a bit thick, but its ok ill create a step joint in the clamp ends and weld this together, and the other end ill weld on the expansion pipe, and on the far end ,a plate for a bolt on end can , i just need some time to get on the welder, but i must remember to plate the exhaust clamps and slide them on before welding the exhaust together.!!!!!!otherwise that would be a DOH! moment.

had a look at work today weve got 44mm o/d and 46mm o/d 2mm and 1.5mm thick wall stainless and mild steel ive got an old pipe which i can cut the down pipe off.i can swell a collar to the inside for a perfect fit to the barrels we have thousands of different flanges so matching to the lc shouldnt be a problem the downpipe will go on the vector where measurements taken put into the computer and bends and cuts pipe to size once the programme is in.makem when i want watch this space ;D

i have finally sent my frame off to the powder coaters, i had gloss black in mind untill i saw another customer collecting something interesting from the coaters, (a car component) when he saw it, he wanted to immediately take it home to bed and love it ! i had to agree! so, i had to copy, i have never seen a bike frame done in this stuff ! so ..........im nervous and excited ! , watch this space , ill be picking it up in a few days ! take your bets !

well, things have not gone to plan, but nevermind, i think i found out just in time! i opted for something a bit different when i saw a black crackle powder coat,i thought....THIS is for me ! it turns out its not best suited for bike frames, its ok for engine parts and stuff under bonnets etc, lucky i phoned up the powder coaters to have a chat over my option, so, its back to plain old gloss black, pitty ...it looks awesome (heres a pic of some crackle black off the web) but im sure when i get that shiney black frame back, ill be chuffed its no longer pitted and rusty etc.
