cheers mate, i dont have so much time at the moment, so just tackling small jobs, its set to roll for quite a while and in a lot of detail and fiddly bits, i want to aim for the quality of some of the fantstic bikes on this forum, i enjoy what i do so dont mind taking ages over tiny little tasks,
just dont think me too much of an anorak with my photos of little bits of wire and close ups of fuel taps etc ...LOL

well thats a few more bits sorted, nothing more than a bit of spit and polish, the plastic soaked in de greaser for a day, than cleaned with water and strong bleach overnight, still a bit of yellowing to the plastic of the rear brake fluid container, i tried to soak it in lemon juice to see if that did the trick, but no noticeable difference..... the black plastic wiped with wd 40 ,comes up a treat! the power valve covers, just shot blasted , primed and sprayed black satin........the black paint in poundland is really good stuff.....youll never guess how much i paid for it .....(joking !) the grey and white primer is excellent value also ! looks good with a bit of laquer and some new stainless allen bolts. in the next week or so, i should have a couple of small boxes full of nuts bolts and brackets etc for zinc plating. then next stop....the classic bike show in stafford mid october..........do a bit of shopping for bits and bobs !,cant wait

You can find them by going to the 'one stop LC shop' page and clicking the 'Decal kits/stickers' icon. The stickers you are looking for are about three quarters down the page.

just had an hour on this bit,, its amazing how well the chrome held up under the crapy storage conditions of this bike, just a bit of rubbing down and a polish with some ally cleaner and it came up great, the addition of a new stainless allen bolt and its job done, just the second one to do p.s , thanks scruff, i have found it now, ill get a few quid in the post and send off for some stickers, i need to get the switchgear back together , thank god for the several dozen pics on how they came apart, !! if anyone needs any pics taken of stuff in bits or whatever, drop me a line, im building up quite a library !

very long winded, they are supposed to be factory sealed, but where there is a will there is a way, :-) (and i was a good boy and never touched the milage) take a sturdy fine screwdriver, and the metal lip that is folded back at the rear of the casing, just carefully prize it up and work around the edge a bit at a time, two or three laps to get it higher and higher, and the plastic case will pull out,i have pics on my mobile, ill sort them out, the speedo is a pain, as i couldnt find a way of taking the trip dial out of the side, so i couldnt take the gubbins out of the case to clean it properly, but the rev counter is easy. putting it back is a bit easier, just work around re tapping it flat ,but just a bit at a time, again, 2 or 3 laps, dont rush it, the other clocks are a doddle, and wash well in hot soapy water, just be carefull of the fine seal on the temp guage, they get brittle with age ill post pics a bit later !

have been round to my former employers (supermarine aero engineering) to use the shotblaster today, several dozen parts later (all freshly stripped of crap ,paint and rust etc.) and straight round to the electroplaters with a batch of around 80 odd parts......should be picking up next week,
all this in return for me helping out on a spitfire intercooler system (what i used to do), sounds like a bargain to me, i love my old workplace, all the tools you need anytime you want !

just had a shed load of plating back, this should keep me busy for a while, some pieces are plated as a base for painting (the suspension linkages) most will be the final finnish so i have quite a few nuts and bolts as well as linkages, tank brackets joints and screws for the carbs, engine brackets, brake lever, etc etc the finnish i think looks good, and im happy with the colour and brightness of zinc plating
