Well yes, I took Norbo up on his offer of an old LCII sale for a rebuild. I had been looking for a very early model bike for some time when I happened to see this on the site (And a fine site it is too!) - Thanks to Norbo for the bike and thanks to Marco for safe delivery. This rebuild is going to take a significant time as I'm very busy with other things but rest assured I like photos ;D and will enjoy posting progress + info. TBC Current condition - don't be fooled, the pictures make this look good!

Looks like you need a skip to give you a bit of working space ;D At least you have a good starting point, bike looks pretty complete, my latest build started with only a swing arm. Good luck, keep us posted

Float pins - Thank you guiri & Gaz. Point noted, took the other carb off today and like you both said... one end is paned over. Removed those rear sets today, will look into exact measurements when I get a minute but thanks Gaz for pointing out the hydraulic mounting points. To spruce things up a little, surely this can't be right? Apologies for the high resolution but its worth it I suspect that the engine had an interesting range considering the valves are out too Anyway, new jets required dependant on future setup. Never the less the carbs needed a little love so I started with one today. When both are looking resonable they will get an ultrasonic bath followed by a good polish. (Still could use any tips on performance differences between these and original ones if anyone has details) To be continued...

The jets are way out 220 and 260 LOl how the hell did that come about and they look well batted. They should be running £185 or 195 mains.
As far as performance go's i would not worry about it with the power jet carbs they are perfectaly fine . However it being all matcjhing numbers and 2 previouse owners id be trying to keep it as standard as posable . so standard 31K carbs would be a must . I dont mined a chrome rad grill or allspeeds even braded hose as thes are bolt ons but i keep keep standard wheels carbs etc .

Taking a looky over the lump I spy a shiney bit, the valve linkage. That valve joint doesn't look like it's ever seen the road. No road dirt, never mind oil leaks. It's cleaner than mine and I've got new seals!

They don't all piss out oil. Only the ones with clapped out bushings and/or PV's. The area below the joiner is also clean. Note the rust on the cyl hold down nut/bolt. Leakers don't allow rust to form

I have some LC II carbs I would swap for your FII ones especially as you've cleaned them up! If you are interested PM.

Thanks for the offer daveG but I had already arranged for 31k carbs. I will run some comparisson tests when the bikes running and obviously offer them to you first if they are not required. Comparing the FII and 31k carbs it would seem the mould was already formed to facilitate the incorporation of the powerjet additions but was not machined out. Wondering if better carb performance was found but saved for future models as a direct "improvement" mod. Ideas anyone?
