I've got a 350LC 4L0 engine i bought with the head and barrels off which i was told was a runner with a recent rebore. Before i put it on the bike i want to know the cranks is ok, the bores and pistones are fine, gears ok, etc, etc Trouble is what i know about engines i could write on the back of a stamp and still lick the glue without smudging the ink. Anyone got any suggestions on the "idiots guide to engines" and how i can tell if the crank, bores etc are ok or if i was told a lot of bo**ocks and need to have work done. Done want to put a bad engine in the bike to have to take it all apart again!!! Thanks

Push the conrod to one side and pull up and push down if it does,nt move the bifg ends as fine . run your fingers around the barrels in side to feel for marks. Look for excesive blow back past the second ring on the pistons. Look for dents on the piston head . look for small mars not coved in carbon deposits in the head . if they are fresh they will be clean old ones will have carbon on them .
