I have a 350 engine newly fitted running 4lo1 carbs that i have cleaned, the float bowls are on right and slides in the correct carbs. When i start the bike its fine and ticks over fine but when i pull away it dies unless you give it choke, when riding with choke off it wont pick up from low revs unless the throttles wide open, i messed with the air scew and the best i can get it runnin is with the air screws half a turn out............if you set them normally it wont pull away at all, half a turn out and it will but you need to slip the clutch to 4000 rpm or it dies.....once above 4000 she pulls perfect through the revs..........its proper doin my head in, the carb link pipes are on too. Help.

Do you know what position the needles are set at ? The standard position for the 4l001 carbs are with the clip in the 3rd notch down from the top. Tone.

Funnily enough i went for needles earlier they were one notch from the top, i dropped them to centre position, its loads better but still runs best with the airscrew quarter turn out, its almost spot on .... if i adjust to 1 and a half turns out it bogs down as you let the clutch out. Im getting there slowly. Thanks for your input guys.

Small can Allspeeds at the moment, i have some Swarbricks in the loft ready to go on eventually. Might raise the needles one more notch tommorow, im defo heading in the right direction. Im running 240 mains btw, thought id jet up as im on premix on this donkey, im runnin 30 to one for safety.

Reason I ask, I had a 4L0, all standard, pipes, carbs etc, but when I fitted a set of removeable can Gibson pipes it would act similar to yours, only way to pull away was with a large handfull of revs. I tried all sorts of different carb settings but was only cured when I fitted a larger pilot jet, up one size to 25.0. May be worth a try. HTH OEB

To be honest its realy close now, il raise the needles another notch and see what happens, i just cant fathom the airscrew thing, i dont think i have any leaks, sprayed everything with carb cleaner when tickin over and revs didnt rise.
