Been a roller coaster day, Called gibsons to enquire about small cans for my YPVS hybrid, lucky day, will have a set ready for the end of the week - total fluke. Got a seat from ebay, couple of small nicks in cover but a very usable seat it said. The truth - both corners burst, 20 mm rip on back edge, 30mm rip in middle and about 10 stab holes - not happy. Took R frame to mates to get lock stops and various brackets welded on - all for 6 Newcastle brown ales. Then stripped the Vj21 swing arm of the frame for latest hybrid to find a 30mm crack on rh side at swing arm pivot. Can it get any worse? Away now to book forks into philpots for rechroming, more money Let's hope that's the end of the problems. Steve

I feel your pain bro, I recently bought a 350LC with the idea of a quick look round, service and on the road but its turnin into a minor restoration . Just think of it as a problem solving exercise and when you get it done you will wonder what all the fuss was about

Are you going to send the seat back .? Not sure, £29 including postage. Knew it was used but not sh*gged. Intended to use it until I eventually got it re covered but no good for that, would have bought a really cheap one if I was going to cover it straight away. Was in no mood to be rational about it yesterday so didn't contact seller. What do you think? Steve.

Take some pics of the seat and put them up along with the description from ebay and we'll give you some honest opinions!

I think with any build you seem to have to put up with some shite and get the odd dodgy part and i had my fair share but it will all come together and these hassles melt into the background sounds good to me now just to shut the neighbours up about the noise complaints and tvs freezing ;D

Frame, clock bracket and face along with grab rail dropped off at powder coaters to day £80 the lot. Going for satin black as pipes will be satin and engine already done in it. Also got fork lowers and top yoke vapour blasted. Only neg today was the mirrors for the LC2 hybrid turned up today and they were the wrong ones so need to send them back to exchange. Now need to decide whether to get swing arm welded or try and pick up another one. Steve.

Cracked swingarm sorted, just won one off ebay for 99p, just needs a hugger mount sorting.
Had the LC2/VJ22 out for it's maiden voyage yesterday, only did 5 miles to petrol station and back as a shake down. Only slight problem was the rear banjo bolt still clashes with the swing arm, even made it loosen the bolt so leaked brake fluid but luckily not onto any painted bits. Running in so can't rev it but either the speedo is out or the bigger rear sprocket is a bit too much. 5000rpm in top is 50mph, doesn't half feel nippy though. Think I have a sticking caliper as well so off to check now. Steve.

Frame and brackets back from powder coater today, looks mean in satin. Changed mind about pipes and went for chrome so 4 week delay but forks picked up and away. Also my 99p swing arm turned up, well tidy.
Will have to upgrade photobucket account and start some photos.
Steve.

Cheers for the seat cover tips, will look into them. Now got 4 x washers behind master cylinder and a ss bolt, just clears. Hvae milles bit where it hit so just needs polished up and it will look ok. Heading out to garage to see how NK swing arm conversion kit fits. Steve.

NK kit now fitted, easy once you work out which way everything goes and bite the bullet and grind the frame at the correct side. Nice bit of kit.
Fork legs, top and bottom yoke painted up and ready, just waiting for the stanchions to come back from philpots.
Got some nice SS fine pitch bolts for the hanger mounts and tie bars - pricey
Had to get a new bush for swing arm as one was missing from ebay one and the other arms bushes were knacked. Just losing the feeling in my fingers trying to polish the swing arm a bit.
Think I've got every thing now, just needs cleaned up/painted and assembled before the costly bit of paint.
Steve.

Where did you get fine pitch SS bolts, I get all my fixings from here www.stagonset.co.uk/ but they don't do fine pitch.

Not moving fast, still not got forks back, in the 5th week now, not happy, said it would be 2. Only the second time i've had it done, first time took weeks as well and they never stopped weeping, better not happen this time. Kicking myself as was nearly the same price for new ones from All Bike Engineering.
Lower linkage bearings shot so had to get another one. Going out now to fit the swingarm and the yokes.

Hopefully bad luck bit over, allspeeds came yesterday, decided to put them on my other bike, will put the converted F2's on this one to keep in with the looks standard at first glance idea.
Fork stanchions back from Phillpot's, thank god. Time for some building and some pics I think.

A few steps forward. Forks built and fitted, swing arm on.
Frame in Matt Black, Was an R so all fairing brackets removed, rad mounts removed and new one fitted for N2 Guard. Didn't have mounts for frame infills so made new ones. Removed old sterring lock bracket from head stock along with fairing mount and welded on bracket to suit new steering lock. Instead of removing steering stops from ypkes and re welding them simply welded new stops on frame at rear of head at gusset. Left origional lug on frame in case of changes. Sorry for crap images, camera would not focus properly and was in hurry.
