Many of us have done these builds over the years so there are lots of build threads on here with info in them which is worth reading when you have time, xmas/boxing days... I have 38 and 39, but depends on the front and what you are trying to achieve. Any pics of your build's raw materials?

ill get some pics up asap. just had frame powder coated , wheels done and dropped of at a mates to get the new tyres and bearings done. swing aram came back from NK with the mod so thats ready for a good old polish. new discs ordered and calipers are next to get stripped and rebuilt . Ive had the RGV bits lying for over 10 years and have loads of LC parts but now that ive started its the small bits that you realise are missing that give you the biggest headache , right now its spacers etc from the wheel spindles, some are missing and finding it difficult to find them. 350 ypvs engine all rebuilt and sitting ready to drop in .
Had an LC brand new on my 17th birthday in '82' ! Mars bar with red frame and gold wheels . going for the same look albiet with the mods. another mid life crisis to add to the list !hahaha

As Jonw says 17/39 is prob best
May have difficulty with the rear as B&C express don't cut specials from Renthal blanks anymore
I've got a 41t on just now and it's a bit too low geared

The RGV fork legs were in a bit of a state so had them vapour blasted when rebuilding them with new seals etc . I quite like the matt look after the vapour blast , has anyone left them like this? what have you coated them with to keep them clean and add some protection? Thanks

Most people rub around them with red scotch brite for the standard look after vapour blast and maintain with acf50 you can polish first for a shinier if thats a word finish

First problem , turns out that i have the RGV banana arm but a GSXR 400 rear wheel ! I had a look on Fowlers website at he parts drawings and although the swing arm is different , the rear wheel and spacers etc looks almost identical with the exception of the sprocket carrier which is how i found out when i ordered a sprocket for the RGV and found it was nothing like the one i have. Anyone know if its possible to use this wheel etc with the banana arm? HELP ?

Hi
The 400 wheel will go in as spindle and spacers etc are the same dimensions
Sprocket wise use a Suzuki gs500 sprocket. You may need to machine 5mm off the carrier face or use a gsf400 carrier
Problem is the disc is 5mm nearer the arm so you will need a custom caliper bracket as the RGV one won't work
I have this set up
Or get an rgv wheel which is rare/spendy

Does the GSF 400 carrier fit straight onto the wheel and solve the problem with the sprocket ? ie no need to machine the 5mm off ? If so would it all fit with my wheel and banana arm and just leave the caliper bracket issue to solve ? Thanks

The gk76 400, gsf400 and GS500 carrier are all identical other than offset but from memory the GS doesn't have enough offset as ran a 130 tyre on a 3.5 rim
Gsf 400 is the best but you will have to use the gk76 bearing and inner spacer as the bandit was a 17mm spindle
The thing is as many have found when doing the rgv conversion is that sometimes the offset is slightly different
The good thing about the gs500 steel sprocket is that the teeth are slightly offset with the face so mounting it back to front will reduce the offset another 2mm
It would just leave the caliper bracket to sort

The random offset is a weird one, but its haunted me as well. I did wonder if something get bent and that woudld make sense... were talking LCs and RGVs... who hasnt thrown one at the scenery at some point?!

Great info guys , i have had a look on ebay and found two GSF400 sprocket carriers , first is GK75A 89-91 or there is a GK7AA 95-97 ? Would it be the 89-91 GK75A id need ?

Did they not change to straight spokes after that instead of angled
