Hmm, that's interesting. Looking at my kit, the liners aren't proud and the ports don't seem to be sharp.
They don't seem to be honed though. I won't be able to fit or measure anything for a while unfortunately.

That's shocking You're doing the right thing sorting these issuesout, it is so disappointing to go through all this, seems like half a job was done. You are only as good as your last job, and that doesn't inspire confidence. I think maybe you should consider contacting him with your findings, maybe a mistake was made sending them back unfinished, because they certainly seem unfinished. Hey Tony Yeah, I'm in several minds about it. Based on other people's comments, photo's etc the barrels not being honed and the sharp ports seems to be just the way he does them. The rough tops of the barrels and the tapered bores I'm not so sure about. Maybe some quirk of the machinery he uses, or perhaps he was just having a bad day when he did mine? I had so many problems with the 250, the top end of which has been hacked in multiple dimensions, and was looking forward to getting the 370 back all nicely done and ready to put together with minimal fuss. So, a bit disappointed in that respect, I must admit. On the other hand, if these sorts of things are 'normal', other people seem to have got it working OK. Pretty sure I could have done the same, if I hadn't started looking closely at the details. Trouble is I do have a tendency to notice things, and when noticed I find it difficult to un-notice and forget about them Cheers

I can't fault you though process, I would be exactly the same, it has to be right, or I would not be happy.

Makes me wonder if they were bored hot
Some engines are done that way to take heat distortion into account
Maybe not for an 80's 2 stroke though
Is there not also a split opinion from some on port edges
