The modern Avons are not like the Avons of the 1980's and the Bridgestones are not like the ones fitted to the LC as standard when new. There isn't a big market for manufacturers to make 18" tyres for bikes like the LC. We're lucky two big manufacturers bother. I couldn't even find a matching pair for my SR125 and had to buy two different makes.

How quickly do they crack? I have Bridgestone S22s on my RGV. I fitted them in 2016 and they still look fine. I've not used the bike for a while now so I'll probably change them before I do. I have the Avons on my LC wheels. They've been on a couple of years now and still look new. I have to admit though, the wheels are stored in a cupboard in the spare bedroom š

Hypersports s22 I thought they come out in 2019
I had my s22 fitted and within 2mnths cracks in the tread Ive had 3 x s22 fitted in just over 2 years Average use just over 2000 -2500 miles And before that the tyres looses shape with bumps and distortion So badly that when you overtake the tyre wont stay on white lines and acts unpredictable not a nice feeling its like you got a puncture Never had this ever before on a tyre So i now have Michelin 6s fitted
This is just my view and experience with tyres I ride every day Maybe im just unlucky with tyres
Was just hoping some one tried different tyre Width and depths to achieve different brands
Thanks again for your advice

If a tyre of mine cracked after 2 months I would be making a massive point of complaining to the supplier and/or manufacturer that's for sure. Even 2 years I probably would.
I have the Road 5's on my VFR and the 2CT on my R1 and can't fault them.

I've told this story before but I bought a pair of Pirelli tyres off ebay from Demon Tweeks
The arrive and I was unhappy they were a few years old, the said they were less than 10 years so are fine
I then went to get them fitted and the tyre place refused to fit the front as it was cracked
I went back to them and they said it had to go back to the manufacturer which p1ssed me off as it was unused
Took weeks for them to come back by which time I'd told them where to stick it as I'd bought elsewhere as I needed the bike
They said they would replace but not refund as it was outwith the ebay 30 day period
Ended up going to PayPal as there is 12 months on that, they eventually refunded the money for the front
Total pain in the ass

Remember the one I ordered for the VFR? I never even saw it. They said they had delivered it to the Post Office as I had asked them to and they sent me a photo of a blond lady holding a tyre up on the counter top of a shop. I asked which of the hundreds of Post Offices it was at. No reply. I ended up just getting my money back as they never gave me a clue where it was.
My address is The Old Post Office...........Must have confused them I suppose. Easily done if you're thick.

It's probably not relevant now because it was back in the 90's but I put Continentals on my LC and they were the worst tyres I've ever had on any bike for stability. Anything over 80 caused the bike to become so unstable it was scary. Being skint though I kept them on. They were still on the wheels until last year or 2022 when I refurbed the wheels. Worse tyre for grip was an Avon Roadrunner. A couple of degrees from vertical in the rain and 5% throttle and massive wheelspin. Unless you buy something like a Golden Boy that was on my SR125 I don't think there are any $hite tyres these days.

You can also try Heidenau brand. I've heard lots of positive remarks from the classic bike racers about them. I've got a set on std rims but have only done 400 miles on the road. So can't really comment much on them.
Bridgestone S21's and S22's I like alot, but they wear out quickly. I am just about to order some R10's or R11's in a H rating if I can find them. I've used the V rated R11's on a 443cc powered bike with no complaints. They warm up quickly.

I've always used a 110 front
My dilemma is I can get BT090s in 110 and 150 but when I ran a 150 before it didn't turn in well
Whether it was going from a 150 when I ran Dunlop GPR and moved to the Bridgestone BT090 in a 140 that improved it due to the width reduction or the fact the BT090 was egg shaped I don't know
And then there is the question over what age of 090 ill get delivered š¤
