The youngest lad mentioned a couple of times that he hadn't been to Olivers Mount since he was about 12 and he would like to go back. He bought us both tickets for the Barry Sheene meet for my Birthday. I booked us into a B&B.
The weather was horrendous but we saw some great racing on the Saturday. The Sunday was a washout, I think they got one sighting lap in and called it off for the day a few hours later.
I'd like to have another go at it this year but without the rain please.

I really enjoy Scarborough, I try to get there Friday afternoon and enjoy the benefits of a paddock pass I usually get. It's been a bad few years for the racing there one thing and another, hopefully 2024 will see some good events and good weather too.
I'm currently finalising a 12 day trip away in May to Europe with 9 friends. Hull to Rotterdam Ferry, down to Bastogne, Belgium, Black Forest, Germany, Merano, Italy, Berchtesgaden, Germany, Aachen, Germany and back to Rotterdam for the Ferry home. Trip covers a bit of history, some great roads and passes. We're all looking forward to it.

If you are off to Santander... Does a couple of trips to Nat West count? The only reason we're going is they have closed all their branches nearby. Bit of an inconvenience to be honest Interesting..... I'll get my coat!!

Germany is a fantastic country, if you pop into Austria make sure before you do you get a toll pass otherwise it’s a big fine.

Yes I will, not worth not getting a toll sticker about £6 for 10 days now, we'll hopefully get a few Austrian passes in over the 3 days we're down that way, hoping to do the Timmelsjoch Pass and Mountain Top Motorcycle Museum.

The problem we had was taking a wrong turn which led us onto a toll/motorway we left immediately at the next exit there were about 35 bikes we were stopped. They tried issuing fines to us all. Then the police arrived (few of us were coppers) the police advised us to leave straight back to Germany if we hadn’t given our details. Some did and some stayed and paid.

Looks like I'm going to the Manx! Just been discussing travelling/room options with Tim. It's on.

I'll be coming to the UK for a trip, probably while the rest of you are off somewhere else. At least that keeps the numbers on the roads the same lol

Ohh that would be lovely, but nope it'll be earlier in the year. Thanks for the thought that Alex, very kind of you mate. I did read Tim's info on the Manx and sharing a room with one of the band of farty lairy lads did sound like a great trip tho. It was tempting... farts and snoring aside lol Nah for me, it'll be a bunch of family stuff and lots of admin interspersed with trips out and about and seeing a few mates for the odd meal/beers etc. Maybe I'll do some 'ohh look at these bikes!' pics like i did in Seoul... if i see anything out 'n about lol. I think we generally see more older bikes on the roads in Aus than the in the UK tho. The problem with 'coming home' is that its less of a holiday if you have too many things you 'have to do' while there. As we age and those around us do too, the list becomes longer each trip. Still there are some gems in this trip that im looking forward to.

Well, I hope you have a great time back in Blighty Jon. Hopefully a LOT better than the last time... Alex Haha, thanks mate. I should say that we still had a good time last time. The silly hot days of broken (and striking) trains and the aggro in London werent highlights plus I hope Ive learnt my lesson about hand luggage items... tho we all know that guys like us always have bike parts to carry lol
