That's another £9.94 this forum has just cost me.
This is not helping in the saving for the Ignitec and Power Dynamo I need to get next for the long stroke YPVS build.
I`ve got to admit to have been running MandP clear 2t oil pipes connected to the Arrow rebuilt pump on my stock(ish) daily ride 4L0.
I repent and will be fitting the genuine yam lines now.

My only reason for perhaps not running a pump on my 385 was the want to use straight cut gears. I’ve chosen to run the pump over the gears. Jon Am I being daft here or is the oil pump not driven off the other little gear on the Crank end Not the straight cut primary Water pump too Steve No Steve, only the water pump is driven off that smaller gear.

I run clear on all my bikes and past customer bikes with zero issues, the Aprilia AF1/ RS 125 comes with it from factory (pump to carb) i find it comforting to see oil in the lines before i start anything up.
The only point i will make is the stuff i use in Made in Italy and not china stuff

There are multiple types of material used for clear lines, so which material was causing a problem?
I have seen PVC, Nylon, PU, latex and Tygon versions on eBay.

Hi arrowDo you know which material you have seen issues with? Hi Rob, no sorry. I never got to know what they were made from.

It could definitely be the wrong grade of PVC tube.
With so many to choose from and dodgy Chinese suppliers it would be easy to get unsuitable clear pipework.
This sounds likely to be the underlying issue with clear pipes. It is difficult to identify a pipe with no writing on it.

The Tygon F-4040-A is rated for fuel and oil, so should be fine. A friend is having the LC with these pipes on, so we can keep an eye on how it lasts/performs.

This is the issue that I've been talking about. Nobody contacts me to say, guess what, I'm running clear pipes with no problems. I only get calls about the problem ones. Although I'm well aware (as previously stated) that there is decent stuff out there.

Any feed back on here will be very useful to the other lads.
Could you just do one other thing please?
When the pump is all plumbed in, bled and been in use for a week or so, could you remove the pipes at the carb end and leave the ends in a couple of egg cups or similar for a couple of days? This will establish if the check valves are working correctly.
If they ARE passing it will mask the monitoring of the afore mentioned problems.
Thanks.

But, if there was no oil in the pump feed, would the pump, being positive displacement, purge the oil from the clear lines with air ? Admittedly, probably be too late by the time you noticed.

This thread always reminds me of the animal farm chant, just swop two legs good with black pipe and clear pipe for the 4 legs bad, and obviously nothing in between 😃

Coming back to this thread, I was just looking for some clear fuel resistant pipe for my Ethanol removal kit and found this information :- www.hoseshop.net/blog/pvc-vs-polyurethane-hose-right/It looks like PU (Polyurethane) is the way to go. PVC is more gas permeable, goes hard at colder temperatures and is less resistant to petrol based chemicals.
