It’s a 250 though isn’t it? Or is it with yellow number boards?

OMG I didn't realise it was that difficult.
Some say he's named after a fictional Australian character.

I did think max but does no;5 match his number I thought it was 3? Or am I overthinking it? No number springs straight to mind when I think of Biaggi other than No. 3 but that was maybe in the 500's era. Riders have cottoned on to the marketing power of a permanent number now. I have found pictures of him on the Rothmans Honda NSR250 from 93 running the number 5. The bike also has a yellow number board. At one point they did away with the rules on number board colours. It used to be yellow for 500's, and green was for 250's. I don't know why they chose yellow, maybe so it looks like the Doohan 500? One of the best looking bike/colour schemes ever IMHO! I'm sure someone posted a video of Max starting the bike up and giving it some.

With the proceeds of the Honda and another race rep Suzuki he bought a real Honda 500 V twin gp bike in some boxes. It was raced by Cardoso 1999 It was a real ball ache to get some of the missing parts but earlier this year he tested it on a track for the first time. I was surprised at the size of the bike. Another surprise was my Bakker bike sounded identical to his bike. I wish i got a video of the bikes side by side revving them.

Mate had just bought a zxr400, he has a zx7r for the track and a h2 thing for the road and has bought the 400 for the IoM Manx (not to race) but he saw how much fun I was having on the Lc and I think realised for the majority of time over there you don’t need a 200bhp monster.

On the subject of 400cc motorcycles. Not so long ago I learned that Honda make a 400cc Vtec engined bike. On full chat it has a very distinctive noise. This is what priked my ears up about the model.

My VFR800 VTEC is an odd one to me. It runs on two valves per cylinder up to about 6,800 then the other two start to open so it's not really variable valve timing at all. It kicks in so suddenly it's like a two stroke power band. It has a slight dip before it takes off. The effect is less pronounced the higher up the gears you go. In top it transitions at something like 120. I don't really get what Honda were thinking. It makes it interesting to ride but it's supposed to be a sports tourer. After a lot of negative feedback Honda have tried to smooth the transition on later versions.

When you say surprised do you mean how small it is or large? I'm thinking small. Wasn't one of the main issues with them their over eagerness to wheelie?

Yes definitely small, and wheelie wise I've only got pictures of him wheelieing every where in Assen last September. Price wise I'm not sure but it must be around the ton mark.

It seems like everything is retro when it comes to bikes these days. Maybe they are just trying to appeal to us oldies until we all snuff it and then close the factory doors for good? Colours I'm OK with but personally I'm slightly irritated by bikes trying to look like something they're not. The new four stroke Rainey rep YZR500 . I wonder how much they had to pay him to appear in the advert?

Don't like that fairing or the number plate extension thing. Why do that? It needs the H1 round headlights.
