I know it's bizarre. Seems like 42c was just a few weeks ago to me. Problem is as this becomes a more regular occurrence people will be installing A/C into their homes. So even more electricity needed...

So true. Lots of houses here have AC and it wasnt that long ago (10+ years tho i guess) that on very hots days the leccy network would crap out cos the raw was too huge.
We dont have AC, saves us a fortune... Its just so easy when youre hot or cold to push a button. I hear the biggest expense (and hence draw) is underfloor heating. A famous radio DJ here left hers on all winter once and it cost a fortune.
Found the article... $7k for 3 months. Thats almost £4k for those who dont have a currency converter to AUD in their heads... Doesnt everyone? Er...
As you say Alex, the problem with this is the amount of electricity we need to make to run it, plus all those leccy cars we all are being forced to move to...
Parts of bikes... bikes in parts...

Yes mate that is exactly what I was hinting at...the cars...if you can call them that. I'm just glad we have all live in a time (for now) when you can actually drive one. I mean a proper hands on experience. You, a car (or bike) with a petrol engine, gears, clutch etc. I feel sorry for those in the future. They'll never experience it unless it's on a virtual reality game. So sad.

Could be a frozen pipe Either cold feed to the boiler or hot feed out of the boiler (assuming it's a combi) could also be the diverted valve in the boiler stuck but that's nothing to do with cold probably
If not a combi your tank or piping could be frozen

I think you'd be mental to fit ac in the UK. All that expense for a week or 2 use 🙄
And talking of electricity demand, I bet with the price of elec and the falling cost of petrol there ain't many plug in hybrid cars getting plugged in
On a side note I was on a European video call yesterday and they were saying the wholesale price for 1 kw/h of elec was €0.63 plus tax 😳
That's over double what we are and some countries grids were at 100% capacity
In the UK they have stood down the 2 coal fired power stations they had on standby as won't be needed
I would be interested in fitting solar panels if it was more viable
10+ years for payback on a standard system or near 20 years if you fit batteries as well
No feckin point as the system will be past its best by then and probably obsolete
Minus 10 this morning and bloody boiler playing up ! Heating comes on and radiators work and the cold tap flows but hot tap isn't flowing at all
Is that a frozen pipe even though all cold taps flow ?
Maybe someone’s left the cold supply under the boiler off ,depending on what boiler you have when you top up the pressure it temporarily stops the supply to the hot taps
post a picture
if the boiler is in a garage or attic the cold main/hw outlet pipes could have frozen overnight
