I don’t know if it’s just me but baked beans aren’t what they were… Heinz took out or reduced the salt and sugar in their beans and they are now shixe. On Branson now but have to add a teaspoon of sugar and a little salt plus Worcester sauce just to make them taste right.
Never mind pandemics and possible war in Europe, what the hell is happening to out baked beans?
What’s next….!

Morrisons for me. Yes Heinz are not the bean they used to be, for me anyway. Morrisons are £1.19 for 4 tins Might have a go at doing my own baked beans if I have a glut of toms, add some chilli and garlic to them.

I still prefer Heinz Baked Beans but I do overcook them in the pan so they thicken up and I NEVER microwave beans. 😱
I bit of butter in with the beans and some course ground black pepper on top is a favourite too. 😋

Supermarket own brand beans. Fork them out of the can( leaving the excess juice behind)straight onto the freshly buttered toast. Add pepper or own choice. Job done 👍🏻

My dad used to do this when camping or out on his boat; Take tin of beans and remove label then remove top of can. With a spoon scoop out one spoon full of beans and shove in mouth - eat cold. Take one egg and crack it into the can in the recess left by the spoon full of beans then heat the tin on the stove. Egg cooks in the beans and the only washing up is the spoon. Just to throw the cat among the pigeons - I Marmite my toast before dumping beans on top.....

Wednesday night is beans on toast night in our house: Heinz chilli beans, toastie loaf, a couple of rashers of crispy bacon, grated cheese on top, melted under the grill. Live like kings in our house….
On the rare occasion the FPO switches it to Tuesday it screws me up and I cant get up for work on Friday as my body thinks its Saturday…

Live like kings in our house…. On the rare occasion the FPO switches it to Tuesday it screws me up and I cant get up for work on Friday as my body thinks its Saturday… +1 (almost). I use almost the same ingredients. First I very lightly grill one side of the bread. Turn it over and slice mature cheddar on it and then melt under the grill. A few good glugs of Worcester sauce after the cheese has melted. Move the shelf down and bacon that been cooking below up. I like the bacon medallions with no fat at all (sorry got to do my bit somewhere. Beans heating the microwave (sorry). Tescos are good. Then onto the plate, cheese on toast first, then beans, then bacon. Garnish with a few splashes of Jack Daniels BBQ sauce. Jon

My mouth is watering and I am going to have cheesy beans on toast for tea, Lovely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
