Stick the pics up! Love a bit of scenery and if a bike is involved then it's even better.

Guadalupe town square. They close it off to all traffic on a weekend. When we arrived at the barriers we were maybe 200m from the hotel. About an hour later after riding up (then down) some very narrow steep hills and round and round again and consulting Google Maps numerous times all while baking in 40°C we finally arrived. Our Hotel. You get a bit of an idea of how steep the streets are from this photo. Sun set from the balcony.

From Guadalupe we went up to Avila. Not somewhere I'd ever heard of but it was the right distance and it has the largest in tact City wall in the World apparently. A one night stop is OK if you just want somewhere to stay on the way to a particular place but we found that it doesn't give you much time to really see the place properly so we started doing two night stops as a general rule. Moto Parking right outside the front door. Not often you see a full suit of armour in the reception area.

The bike finally got some company. His and hers matching Givi top boxes. A Spanish registered bike. We never met the rider. We only started to see British registered bikes when we got up into the Picos de Europa. One thing a couple of people have mentioned is bike security and parking. If we had been in a car we would have been in for a lot more hassle I'm sure. A couple of places they told us to bring the bike into a courtyard or similar and in Guadalupe we parked right behind the hotel where a car wouldn't have fitted. I put a disc and the steering lock on and never felt like there would be an issue to be honest. I just said if it goes it goes. I can imagine a lot more problems if there are a group of you. Some streets have 6/8/10 parking places just for Motos right at the front and we never once had to pay for parking.

Gorgeous views, it is an amazing country when you’re off the tourist trap areas. Keep the pics coming 👍 I agree. Once you are away from the coast that's pretty much it. What package holiday to Spain is not near the sea? With a smart phone and Booking.com it's so easy to just go where the fancy takes you. A mate messaged me and mentioned a road he had ridden in each direction. I looked it up and it was roughly the way we were heading so look up the area and get something booked and off you go, brilliant. If we had planned it all in advance it wouldn't have worked out as good I'm 100% certain. I'm sure a motorbike is by far the best way to do it as well. If we had been in a car, or even worse, a camper van it would have been a right game trying to find the hotels and somewhere to park but you can stick a bike just about anywhere. Off the usual tourist area only has one slight draw back and that is that very few people speak English. Fortunately my Mrs. has a decent grasp. My advice would be to try and learn a bit if you can. I've started my Duo Lingo learning journey in readiness for the next trip . Knowing "Dos cervazas por favor" is the first and most important bit to learn. Followed by grande!

2 large beers please! All you need really. My Mrs gets quite annoyed when I say that 😊 To be fair " excuse me, can I have the bill please?" Is quite useful.
