My brother has an early 250LC with the early style barrels. He has bought a pair of Alonzo mid range pipes & they will not fit. When bolted up at the stub / flange the holes in the rear mount are too far forward & the pipes also foul the r/h foot peg. I’m assuming this is because the old style barrels don’t have a cut out that the new style gaskets sit into so the whole exhaust sits too far forward.
I don’t want to modify the exhaust too much as will be converting it to 350 (new style barrels ) over the winter. Anyone come across this issue & maybe found a way around it ?
Many thanks.

Not sure about the 4L1, but the early 4LO barrels that I've had, needed an extra alloy sealing/spacer ring. Norbo sells one. Otherwise the fit was the same. Are they YPVS pipes? More knowledgeable peeps will be on in a bit

Just use the old style/size crush gasket that fits the barrel recess, seen them for sale on eBay.

It has a set of spacers to bring the mounting face flush already, which I think is our problem as it means the exhausts are mounting too far forward, No deff lc pipes Just found the ones on eBay and have ordered a set to see if that helps Cheers Jimmy

um, not aware of any fitment issues on any combination on an LC
Do you have stock foot hangers on and is it a stock rear shocker (or a YSS or similar for a 250/350 LC), if it has a different shocker fitted e.g. RD125 one (common modification back in the day), then they won't fit, had this issue several times before, check that you have the correct shocker fitted otherwise the holes won't align and the exhausts will either catch the swinging arm, or be very close to catching the swinging arm

Ok. Now have the correct old style gaskets fitted & the exhausts still do not fit correctly. The hanger mount at the rear doesn’t line up very well but you can get the bolt through with some considerable effort but as Dave mentioned it fouls the swinging arm. The shock is marked 4Lo00,the swinging arm appears to be in the middle & the hangers look standard. Not sure what to make of this now. Could the exhausts be at fault ?

If the hanger bolts are near but don't fit I'd say they are ypvs pipes
Hole in exhaust mount bracket will be slightly high and slightly too far back

Could the exhausts be at fault ? its not impossible for the pipes/hangers to be wrong, they are all made on a jig, but the guys are human, so its possible a mistake could be made as the jig used is for both LC and YPVS pipes, so its possible they have had a "brain fart" moment and welded the brackets in the YPVS position instead of the LC position - speak to Jim, he's normally pretty good about these things The only other option is to get another LC that you know is correct e.g. stock pipes fit perfectly and try the pipes on that bike, if they fit, then its the bike you are fitting then to that is at fault - seen a lot of this, but if they don't fit, then for sure, something has gone wrong

Weird
I'd be looking for someone with a ypvs and an LC project to try them on
If they fit the ypvs you know they are ypvs, if they don't fit lc or ypvs you know the pipe is wrong

I have an LC on the bench now if you want to pop up to Bristol to trial fitting. It sounds like YPVS pipes to me and you may need to space out the footrest hangers to bring away from the swinging arm. I have to make 10mm spacers when i fit a metmachex arm to an LC as all exhausts foul them.
