Seriously what you going to do with it? Stroke it? Park it in your man cave? Count the green passivate bolts? If you rebuild it, it’ll look like any other rebuild, apart from having a genuine 1 mile, keep it in the state it is? Patina and all? Or recommission it and use it? Then why not buy one cheaper? It isn’t an investment because of the above. It’ll be bought for the bragging rights and the ego. If I bought it I would do exactly as I’ve said thrash it, that’s what they were built for, the reason they’ve attained’mythical’ status is because they were thrashed by teenagers and gave freedom independence and kudos to spotty kids, they were never bought to be parked in our parents front rooms. I find it really really sad that the bikes I’ve owned for some 35 years are now attracting‘investors’ .

Wow, great pics, but hasn't aged too well. Realistically needs a full rebuild which will spoil the provenance. Not for me this one.

Cant agree more. If it was in mint condition and NOS then maybe, but it could only be an investment as if you were to ride it, the value would plummet, as its no longer NOS.

As said what do you do with it?you will have to strip engine before you ride it and then it's lost that n.o.s thing.it will only be worth anything if you leave it as it is,and what's the point in that ?poor thing will be stuck on show and never be ragged/ridden

Agreed, its not pretty enough to be a museum piece so you may as well use it... after a bunch of it is rebuilt, the rubber parts will all be on their last legs etc.
I dispute the 'barn' thing, there is too much sun damage for that on the tacho. Its been stood outside for some years for sure hence the fade and the rust.

Agree there this has been outside for many years sunfaded tachometer, perished rubbers on clock mounts, the plastic side covers are Gray, would need a complete rebuild if it was to be ridden again

I don't get it
NOS has the word new in it, there is nothing new about that
Don't want to put a spanner on it as it would ruin it?
Bit late for that, 40 years of sun and left out in damp conditions has already done that
Every single part needs refurbed, you'd be as well with a decent used one. I've seen better unrestored ones
The abuse that has already been through with neglect ruins the whole point of it

It’s not new old stock in my book… it’s badly stored unused old stock…. ‘I’m out’ as they say 😂😂😂 Anyway… for me if I had enough money, one of those LC in its original crate would be much more of a novelty… make a good alter in my LC shrine…. I would offer up appropriate sacrifices… bits of kwak tripple or something… But it would be a bit like owning a bottle of napoleon’s finest. Totally un drinkable and no one would dream of opening the bottle…
Back in the real world a nicely restored LC or one with all parts present and ideal for ride/restoration much more desirable…
But that’s just me… the auction will no doubt indicate the other perspectives on life !

I've seen a few unused bike out there, RG150s, Kawa triples that were never registered. Half a dozen TZ250 TKEs Sadly almost all are not stored correctly. So what are you left with? Loads of clocked (read reset), restored LCs out there. What's really different when they are in this condition?

Needs a resto, the front disc has had one heck of a lot of heavy braking in that .7 of a mile....

I would be very surprised at that mileage , I had a new kh250 a few years back and that had 5.8 miles , still have the blue protective tape on the chrome, that mileage was the owner pushing it around his workshop for 43 years, I had it just over a year and put a QTR of a Mile on it

Thank goodness for that, thought I must of had a few to many 🍷😂 Likewise, I was looking at it late last night and was also sure it showed as £7,500 and said I could make a bid at £7,600! Two hopes of that...no hope and Bob Hope Reading the comments above about the 'originality' aspect, which I have to agree with, I even think £4,100 is a lot, for either an 'untouched' bike or a resto project. Be interesting to see what it finally goes for.

A question for all the originality gurus out there...were the plastic engine / oil pump covers not black on all 4L0/1 models? Or might they have faded to the grey colour over the years of exposure to the elements?

NOS means New old stock so aged stock of merchandise that was never sold to a customer and still new in original packaging, so it should still ne in the wooden crate or at least properly stored protected from light and humidity and the rust, faded plastics and seat show that it was not the case !!!! No interest at all ! 10£ for the licence plate washers First time I saw them ! Xavier

All that’s good for IMO is a reference for those wanting to restore to original.
If that were done to this not only would the bike have cost more than it’s worth, but the reference would have been lost.

Jon I will admit to looking at a few parts on it and the way they were fitted and thinking next time I remove them I'll put them back on another way.
