Many has searched and asked for a 9 digit Yamaha VIN decoder. I have gone through 550 pages of Yamaha history, and made a search function for 5000 models/variations dated from 1962 to 2010 with 9 digit VIN I hope you will find the info you are looking for, and if not please send me an email at yamahavin@d3.no. You will find the search tool here: impreso.no/yamaha/9vin/Best regards Gunnar

Great work Gunnar!
Just for fun, I put in the engine# for my TDR, "2YK0*****", and the result was: "Model: TDR250'88 Year: 1988 Country(s): USA VIN from: 2YK066101 to VIN 2YK091000"
TDR250 was never officially sold in USA. Result should read "Canada", not "USA".
Again, thanks so much for this fun and informative tool.
The 17 digit decoder you linked came up "invalid" for the frame VIN on the same TDR.

My Swiss 1GU 1985 bikes also show up as USA. Interesting to see how many were made though, which ties in with the large selection I've bought over the years. Your data says the last one is 702, I've had 6 x in the 600s and wondered why I'd never seen higher. đź‘Ť

So many of these 'decoders' are flawed sadly due to the original data.
I think its defaulting to USA when it doesnt know the country, probably cos its at the end of the list or something. Either way, it doesnt know about any of the Aussie bikes it seems.
For those keen defo email the OP if you find a mistake, he may not come back here as he probably dropped links like this on all the Yamaha old bike forums, and it sounds like this is a labour of love for him and he'd want to know etc.
