Reading back a bit...if that Daily (toilet paper) Mail article is true and vehicles are responsible for 7% of the worlds emissions...why the f**k are we going to stop making them?? What's causing the other 93%? Alex Beef production and intensive food production and business and domestic heating.

What's causing the other 93%? Alex The unchecked human expansion rate... otherwise known as the "elephant in the room" The greenest thing you can do is not add to the problem....it's simple math.... or maths as we once knew it....more arses , more shite. Beef production. Info here about how permanent pasture locks up carbon... We could cure the pollution problem by going back to being hunter gatherers and only live in the numbers that nature can sustain..... probably 1% of us.... Trouble is , we all want the light on at the flick of a switch, a hot cup of tea, a heated house, a wiped arse, a toilet inside (thats a novelty oooop north, I remember the outside direct drop!!) Aaaaand the stupidity of patio heaters...now those users need locking up!!

Interesting. What about coal fired power stations, planes and the Toyota Prius?

There is an unlimited amount of clean, free energy. All we have to do is build the infrastructure. Too complex?? ...well, we have a robot on another planet that's pissing about flying a drone... This elephant in the room is beneath your feet. Iceland uses it.

Didn't an electric car stop in a car park in the UK somewhere and block everyone else in for a few hours?

Can't speak for any other EV, but my Tesla starts to cut back on performance when you reach the last few % in the batteries, with many a warning on the dash. No excuse for not pulling off the road if that happens. Not experienced this myself. Plus it has the ability to disconnect the motors so it can be pushed. There are 2 similar modes, Tow-mode and Car Wash-mode. I think car wash is for those car washes where you get pulled through on a rolling road sort of carry on, and you need to be in the car & it be unlocked. Tow mode is for when you are being rescued and the car can be empty and locked. The modes are activated by the 12V battery rather than the 400V one, so even if the drive batteries are completely flat you can still use the dash to do stuff. My VFR has a similar system. When my eyes/brain compute that the fuel left may not be sufficient for the calculated mileage remaining to complete the journey the on board computer (my brain) tells the throttle control (my right wrist) to rotate the throttle to a more closed position thus curtailing performance whilst simultaneously calculating where the nearest fuel outlet is within a reasonable distance of the intended route.

I have the same system on every vehicle steve! It has an amusing/exciting "gamble" feature programmed into it. It makes life more interesting and less Xbox orientated, as a wrong gamble has consequences..... For best results/excitement, dont own a mobile...

It makes life more interesting and less Xbox orientated, as a wrong gamble has consequences..... For best results/excitement, dont own a mobile... I struggle to do the maths especially not knowing what the bike actually does to a gallon, how much in litres/gallons each of the little squares is and what happens when it gets down to the last one? I think it flashes then turns red but I'm not sure. I was on the M62/A63 heading home a few weeks ago. It was about 3° above and I'd just passed a gritter and I gambled I could get home on two squares. Then it went to one square and I started to do all the above. I stopped at the first garage I saw to and it took 18L to fill so it had another 4L in so as it turned out it would have got me into town easy and I could have filled it up anywhere. I'm too old to push a bike, especially a 200kg plus one. You start to realise there are less garages around than the 80's.

And India, as Steve says population increase is having a detrimental effect. Up by 5 million in the last year. 28 new coal-fired power stations are currently being built in India. 95 in China. By the time carbon-based electricity production is ended worldwide Skegness will be under 3 metres of North Sea, so at least one positive aspect to look forward to

I paid €72 euro for a 4 litre of motul fully syntectic two stroke the other day in my local bikeshop. I nearly fell on the floor and this was with a small discount. When i checked online the prices are the exact same. Petrol here across the pond is €1.55.9 per litre and diesel is €144.9 per litre. Used to live in an old cottage which we rented and had a stove in one room an open fire in the other and an aga in the kitchen which ran all the time. Plus our electricity was really expensive and we had two cars and a couple of motorbikes including a thirsty VFR800I which i had for 14 years. We have since moved house and i sold my corolla est for more than i paid for it ten years later. Bought the better half a Toyota Hybrid which we now share and i drive a CB500X which does 82 to the gallon. Sold all my other bikes and now just have the CB and LC. The house we are now in has a back bolier on the open fire which heats the rads and we dont have central heating so no oil bill anymore only coal which is now €33 a 40kg bag. Use a 80's superser some evenings instead of burning coal. Cylinder of gas is €34 with an empty. I remember staying in my nans house back in the eighties and my grandad used to put his old army coat over our Duvet on the bed for extra insulation lol. How things have changed. I think i used to pay €800 for 1000 litres of oil for the aga.

Mine must have been a modern 80's model 🤣
Was perforated shiny steel on the front upper section
Skipped it in 2013 when we cleared my dad's house out
