Well I thought I’d paid over the odds last month at £603 for 1000 litres but a quick look at today’s price and it would cost you a whopping £1348 for the same amount !

The b4st4rds selling it 😡
It's the equivelant of someone charging £50 an hour for work but when they are really busy charging £100 as demand is higher
This crap on the news about fuel going over £1.50 a litre
Today I filled up at A Shell (have to use them as that's the company fuel card) and the robbing sh1tes were charging £1.81.9 a litre
Also grinds my gears about the electricity charges
Just renewed my deal with Eon. Supposed to be 100% renewable. I live in Scotland where there are wind farms everywhere
Then why is my unit rate jumping 50% and the daily charge went from 21p to 60p 🤬
Dual fuel just went from £125 per month to £241 😭

My solar produced 15 KWH today. That's enough to run the house & put 15 to 20 miles worth into the Tesla.
I may have gone EV at just the right point in time.
Octopus still sell me electric at 5p / KWH overnight, wonder how long that will last?

Heating oil price closely tracks the price of the wholesale cost of oil and is currently taxed at 5% as opposed to road fuel which is taxed around 53% so with the cost of a barrel being around $130 and rising households with oil heating systems are in for a rough ride. A pal of mine lives in an old gamekeepers house in Swaledale and can get through 1000 litres a month !

And you can’t even buy it at the moment
Dear Valued Customer
Due to the current situation in the Ukraine, I am sure you will be aware that oil supplies have been severely impacted and prices are extremely volatile and are changing several times a day.
As a result, we are facing a number of challenges and we have implemented a number of temporary changes around placing orders and delivery which we need to make you aware of.
When you call in to place an order, we will be unable to give you a quotation or provide you with a delivery date as we normally do. Instead, we will take your order and add it to our system to ensure the volume is secured.
As soon as we are able to confirm availability of supply, which will typically be 36 hours before delivery, we will contact you with a delivery date and a price and confirm that we are able to complete your order.
For you to place an order in this way we must be able contact you via an email address or mobile number so please provide this when you call and keep an eye out for our message. If you are happy with the delivery date and price, then you don’t need to do anything but if you wish to cancel, please get in touch straight away to prevent you receiving a delivery you no longer require.
We kindly request that you do not order from more than one distributor at a time, to enable us to ensure we are able to service as many customers as possible, particularly vulnerable people and prevent aborted deliveries.
We thank you for your understanding and are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.
Kind regards
Your local Certas Energy Team

Octopus still sell me electric at 5p / KWH overnight, wonder how long that will last? My mate just installed a solar and battery system His supplier said they would give him the 5p overnight rate once he was up and running Reconned he could charge his car and charge up the house batteries during winter Took a while to get the panels supplied and fitted but eventually got there. By that time his supplier said he couldn't get it so is now on 30p a unit I was over the other weekend when it was really sunny and he was raging as the car was charged and his 4 48v batteries were saturated so his panels had capacity he couldn't use Steve

I'm still on 5p / 15p a unit, can get about 120 miles into the car overnight at 5p for 4 miles worth. Works well for my usage. Hoping to be pretty much solar only for a few months over the summer. It's not so much more sun, but longer days that will make the difference I think.
I sell any excess back into the grid for 4.1p per unit, so if I get the car & house batteries full it's not the end of the world.

Then why is my unit rate jumping 50% and the daily charge went from 21p to 60p 🤬 I was reading about this a while back. TBH the details are lost on me now but it's something to do with the fact that all energy providers dump energy into the national grid and then the separation between green and fossil generated energy is lost. Ofgen have said before that it's not as clear cut as its sold to consumers. It doesn't seem right, but I wonder if there'll be more pressure to change things like this now.

Luckily we have solar panels and are on the old FIT tariff so that will offset the price rises. Looked into buying an EV but the Tesla model 3 performance starts at around £55k !

I think they are 60K now, Elon manages demand by hiking prices. I went for a dual motor, rather than the performance, as I needed a tow bar and it's not available on the performance. 0-60 in 3 and a bit seconds for the performance and 4.2 for mine. About the same as a BMW M3, and I think they are 75 grand.

What's going to happen when a gas line to the eu gets its valve closed... Makes the french threat to turn off the electric to the channel isles look rather insignificant. Oil and gas will rise when you've cut out a supplier, the others will up their prices as demand on them rises. Poking the bear may be the big reset after all. When pockets start being hammered, folks may start questioning the idiots in charge....but I doubt it.. You can get away with piss ups and cake, describing them as work meetings these days....
PS You'd better start hoarding bread because Ukraine is a big supplier of wheat.... on the plus side...they might have to cut ethanol production so's you can have your daily bread.. but only if there's more money to be made that way.

I paid about 70p per litre on Monday last week and it hasn't been delivered yet. Normally I opt for the cheapest price which is the longest delivery but it comes within 3/4 days. It's been 10 days now. I checked the confirmation and it states next Tuesday as the latest delivery. I'm getting close to running out. BTW that worked out at about £900 for 1200L. Cheapest ever for us was 38p I think.

It's really scary the heating oil price. That and you have to buy in bulk is a nightmare
At least with gas you can budget and spread the cost. Smart meters are good for that but then what happens if there is a gas shortage 🤔
When it comes to car fuel Some are just taking the p1ss it would seem
Was a story about Shell stations around Edinburgh yesterday
One was owned by Shell and was charging 161.9 for diesel
The other was franchised as Shell and charging 199.9 for it 🙄
The government could quite easily cut fuel duty to help but they ain't going to do that when they are so far in debt due to Covid

Just checked and the gov charge a flat rate of 57.95p per litre of petrol and diesel
Then the cheeky gits charge 20% vat on the fuel AND the duty
So the tax is actually 69.54p per litre
So with vat and duty £1 of fuel turns into £1.89.54 at the pump
So who's the robbing barstwards now?
The worse it gets, the more they get 😡
Heating oil is 10.7p per litre with 5% vat on top
Shower of sh1tes they are

I just checked my emails and there is one from the oil supplier reassuring people that they have supplies and not to worry. We have about 100mm left in the tank. Might have to turn it off. I suggested turning the heating off and an early night and a cuddle to save oil but still got a knock back. Just glad it's March and not December. To be honest I find the oil thing ok. We can see exactly how much we use and know exactly how much it is. It's all out in the open, no hidden charges. Just a big outlay that's all.

Here's one for you. I gave the oil company a call to see if they could confirm when my delivery was arriving, I just had a look at the tank and there's about 50mm in it. All they could do was confirm the original date of on or before 15th March. Anyway she said you don't want to cancel and try for an earlier date because the price now is £1.20 a litre!!! So an increase from 70p to £1.20 in 10 days 🤔

When the oil price is high oil companies spend and we get busy. Conversely when the price is low they cut back. The thing is though projects in the industry take 2/3 or more years in the planning to even get started and besides if we get busy I don't get paid more! I guess if we are busy enough I could work overtime but I'm too old for that shirt now. Oil companies move at glacier pace when it comes to developing new fields and a (hopefully- fingers crossed) short lived price hike won't even get them moving.

So I rang Certas yesterday afternoon and ordered 500 litres just to see how that would pan out. The guy went on about supply problems and a volatile market etc couldn’t give me a price or delivery date. Got an email immediately after I ordered with a delivery date before the 22nd so I thought ok a couple of weeks more or less but got a text this morning confirming delivery tomorrow at £1.20 a litre including vat total price £601 for the 500 ! Looks like it’s payback time for what they lost in lockdown.
