I canβt wait to see how this XSR700 YPXS concept turns out! I already love their XSR 900LC π

Am I really the only one excited about this? π€
Of course, itβs not a 2-stroke but for me it will be about the classic Yellow 31K looks (if they can pull it off)β¦and the half decent donor bike of course. π

Sorry, but I think you might be Geoff... Many of us dont get the XSRs done up to look like LC2s.

Yea not for me either, if the bike is good enough, it can stand on its own, rather than harking back to bikes of old for help.
Aside from that, I don't actually think the lines of the bike suits the LC decals, or KR paintwork.

I'm gonna say that I like the Velocity moto Xsr 900 I wouldn't entertain a stock xsr 900 seems to be in need of an identity I've ridden one and it's a great bike and I will own one soon and put the full kit on it It will sit next to my 350LC and heres why, I'm a brit expat 33 years in Los Angeles when I can ride to work I won't take the Lc as it doesn't do well on our freeways the xsr won't be short on power or braking or quirky handling My LC is a weekend rider just as my 81 Katana 1000, lots more power but questionable braking and handling I also dislike the "new" Katana Y'all couldn't give me one of them Anyways there's my nickel and dime opinion you're entitled to yours Two stroke or four stroke it's still got 2 wheels and its better than a harley Y'all take care and have a real nice day. Jak.

Itβs fascinating how different we all are but with a common underlying love for classic 2-strokes, both original and hybrid.
I am with Jak in LA, I like the idea of a day-to-day bike that pays homage to the classic lines, colours and panels.
Of course, the YPXS 700 might end up looking shite but I have high hopes based on the XSR 900LC but want a mid powered bike in my collection.
All the best
Geoff

I think the XSR900LC looks great, interested to see what they do with the 700 version.

Wouldn't it just. I will soon have the XSR 900 parked next to my 350 lC It's still got 2 wheels and makes noise and that's not a bad thing. This is just personal preference. If you want to see real disagreement head over to a second amendment site and ask if say a Glock is better than a Springfield or Smith and Wesson that gets ugly! They all go bang when you squeeze the trigger I've got more than one of each.

It's not the going bang that matters...it's the grouping that matters.

Here's the latest XSR700 mock-up. I don't like the 700 on the bellypan and the seat doesn't fit like a real LC π Otherwise I quite like it. π

Tank fairing and infill panels look ridiculous

Tank fairing and infill panels look ridiculous Im with Gunny on this, sorry Geoff. I really tried to be objective when i looked at this, but Ive already nailed my flag to the mast early on in this thread when i said "Many of us dont get the XSRs done up to look like LC2s." Ok, that said, I'll explain what I think looks funny... tho i have to say its probably cos im a fan of the LC and LC2 and am 'used' to how they look, so deviating from that norm was always going to look strange to my eyes etc. Firstly, I can just about live with the elongated / truncated and 'skinny bird' of the rear end but the front, well... thats a firm 'No.' from me. The amount of tank area and large black infill panel leaves the tank looking too small and the headlight cowl looks like the afterthought that it is, way too far forwards and down. It lets down the design and im sure belies the amount of work Hag has done to get it to fit as it looks like a first test fit, not a final design. To be honest one of the bugbears I had with using more modern suspension (in my case i tried RGV) on an early a ypvs was always that it was hard to mount the fairing so it didnt look like this one does. I talked about it at some length when I was thinking of doing it to my 31k/LC2 which in the end I restored. Getting the cowl to fit sleekly and close enough to the bars like the LC2 is was much harder than it looked without the OEM bracketry which mounts to the triple clamp and holds the clocks as well in one neat package. I guess this was the same issue here when added to not wanting to move the ORM XSR headlight and clocks and other gubbins about too much as its all been insurance and registration regulation tested for markets. Ie if you dont move or radically change things you might get TUV approval and that would net more sales. Lastly, I also dont care for the '700' decal but thats easily sorted and so not a worry, rather its that the size of the belly pan is vast when seen in a light colour like this yellow. It might look better with some black painted areas to help hide its girth as its overpowering the tank. With the large and small parts strewn about the bike its sadly its all become rather 'too bitty' for my liking, but i expect it will find buyers... tho ive not asked what the cost of this is? I doubt it will be cheap and Im never going to be a buyer anyway lol.

Im liking this one more than the Yellow but Be nice to see how this one looks from the side. I tip my hat to Hag at velocity moto. Everyone is building "Retro" bikes,Triumph, Royal Enfiled Kawasaki and the list goes on. Why not we are all here because of our strange devotion to old 2 strokes but as has been stated before theyre not really daily riders. much like riding a brand new Triumph pretending it was your Dads 68 Bonnie - without the oil leaks the crappy electrics brakes and suspension.

Hereβs another view of the new 700 and the original 900 for those that are interested. The seat fitment is a bit dodgy but I guess this is their prototype.

I saw this exact prototype YPXS700 today and I am converted. Of course, I would still have a real one as well. π One more 31K colour variation coming soon and then I will decide which one. π
