OK Dusty
Here goes, some suggestions for selling or buying parts or products on this forum, note I said suggestions
1 Seller puts up a for sale post, price must be included in that post (This is already a Rule)
2 Buyer who wishes to purchase said part posts their interest in the For Sale thread
3 No PM's to the seller directly without first posting on the For Sale thread that Buyer X is interested, If sale falls through then the second interested party has next dibs and so on
4 If two posts arrive at exactly the same time then the seller has the right to choose the buyer, I reckon this would be rare
Any further suggestions, so that rules can be introduced and enforced ?

Afraid there will never be a perfect way, someone's nose will always be put out of joint
I've sold quite a few bits and it's always a mix of posts on the thread, pm's and posts saying they are sending a pm
I've been a bit miffed before while asking for details or a clarification on something someone else swoops in and buys it
Its a minefield. Do you take it as first to enquire gets first dibs or first to say they'll take it?
I've fealt awkward before explaining that despite first post on the thread there have been pm's before them
At the end of the day it's the sellers discretion to sell to whoever they want. And if in a hurry for cash don't always have time to wait for someone swithering
Think decency, transparency and respect to others in your answers is the key
Posting saying sorry but sold via pm is better than saying too slow sucker, shut the feck up and stay out of it

It’s how it used to work and it worked well, you’ll never stop people trying it on but at least if it’s formalised it’s another barrier. As you say you’ll always get someone trying it on, however if you have a I’m interested reply subject to? Then traditionally the original poster would dip out if no longer interested. That has surely got to be a better solution than what has started to creep in, of bids and gazumping other forum members.

It might well be sadly, I’ve rarely sold outside of the forum just because the members tend to be a nicer bunch, I generally know what I will be happy with price wise. Tend to find people either stay here or drift off to FB. FB is a very different place.

What the OP is suggesting is very similar to the Aircooled forum for sale rules and chimes with what dusty mentioned this morning. The key point is to create transparency…and avoid inflationary practices.. So fixed price and the reply sequence thread determines the service priority order…obviously a very small delay to clarify etc has to be tolerated but if a very strong second poster is saying effectively where do I send the cash then obviously beyond a short period it’s going to default to the first with a firm offer. PM’s used to follow up with contact numbers etc etc. If everything is out in the open then things tend to self police…no need for contract law to apply and even if the seller wants to sell to someone else… doesn’t matter as it will be obvious and the community can form related opinions.

I generally agree with buyers posting in the original thread 1st, even to say they sending you a PM for transparency. I've had minor difficulties both as seller on here trying to work out who was first, and a buyer thinking I was 1st posting in the thread to find out someone else went in the back door!

I agree. Reply to a Sale ad directly into the thread. Ad needs a firm price, and accurate description. Everyone sees it. Personal details can follow in a pm. If both parties are happy, seller posts up a sold notice. I too have been in this awkward situation. When I open up the forum, you inevitably see you have a message first. You open the message before scrolling through the threads, and you may well reply before even getting to the Sale thread. Easily done, with no malice intended from seller or buyer. I think it's easier to respond to the main thread anyway - quicker even, but some guys genuinely wont know the etiquette if they haven't read the rules. Plus most of us frequent other forums and may apply different thinking, in line with other places. Norbo has outlined a lot of this before; Classifieds To encourage the use of the forum for its members and the correct use of this board, the classified section is hidden until you reach 10 post's. You then will become "L plate rider" and you will then have full access to the board and all it has to offer. Please reed the rooles before placing an add. This is to encourage members to join in, and help people and not simply to flog stuff or post E-Bay links and nothing else. The forum is an lc community of which we have a large majority of like minded enthusiasts, other sites have had to add a "paid up member" contributions to view these sections we do not just say Hi post a picture of your bike and in a couple of days you will have 10 post. Only 2 rules. Be Honest when describing and PUT A PRICE no make an offers this is not E-Bay , Be right with people and they will be right with you when your looking for parts. LC Parts is what i do for a living its how i pay the bills, Trade adverts or posts that have a conflict of interests will be removed Please respect this. Help the Forum with Suggestions If you have any ideas or suggestions that you think may improve the site please fee to voice them. Just PM any mod with any ideas. Feel free to add a link to this forum on any other forums links really do help. Hijacking posts If you have nothing nice to say dont comment. Please dont take a subject of topic if the poster complains your comments will be removed. Put your bike in a show If you would like to put your bike in a show pm me with a picture we are always looking for new bikes for the shows. They do not have to be an LC They can be any 2 Stroke. Anything from a AR50 to a H1 750 Kwack triple or a vespa if its a 2 stroke bike and you would like to be part of a show you are most welcome Posting pictures on the forum The best way to post pictures on the site is with a photo housing place like Flicker . This is a post about how to set it up and use it rdlccrazy.proboards.com/thread/40559/setting-using-flikr-pics-postsJust upload the picture and when its uploaded copy the bottom coad and paste it in your thread Please dont post any inappropriate pictures No boobs and such like this is against pro boards rules and will get the site in to trouble and we will have to remove them so its a waste of time posting them anyway . we all so have a Facebook page www.facebook.com/groups/122362321266218/

Anyone who has bought parts has been in this situation I reckon. It sucks and like others ive been unimpressed to lose out as well at times, but sometimes you get lucky and are first to the seller, sometimes youre not. Of course also the seller can decide if they prefer to sell to you or someone else, its not always a given that the first guy is the winner of the part if the seller isnt keen on them as a buyer due to location or their offer, or maybe something else... Not everyone plays well with others lol
Like Dusty I dont hit the sales section first. I do my messages, then look at replies to my posts and after that I surf the forum, usually 'top down', to try to add something if people are looking for help. Ive missed many a sale of something i wanted cos of that, I should probably at least surf 'bottom up' lol.
These days with the used parts barrel getting very low on stock I think the wanted forum is the best place for things. Over the years Ive been very lucky to have been helped out by multiple kind members with the parts I need on there which is very much appreciated.

Thats a good point, with this forum being fairly international, some people dont want the hassle of sending stuff aboard, i posted a few parts down under, no real problem but had to fill in extra customs forms etc Perhaps a seller should say on the ad whether he/she is willing to post abroad...

Can’t wait to see the first I’m not selling it to you because you’re a t**t post 😁 I should imagine/hope users will know who to transact with, and who not to. Deffo need a pop corn emoji for that.

Another suggestion is to amend the title of the add, saying SORTED or SOLD etc when it is, saves actually going into the post to find out.

I sent Norbo and the other mods a message last weekend about possible changes to the classifieds, but he's been away all week. I agree, "sold" or "provisionally sold" should be added once a deal is done, but that is already a "rule" in the "Please read before you buy" post at the top of the classifieds. Mods can remove the post if needs be, but it would be good etiquette if peeps could update themselves. Dusty
